Rumors abound, is XRB (Raiblocks) heading for a major exchange? Can it challenge IOTA in the DAG space?
XRB is a DAG based crypto-currency that many view as a serious contender to IOTA. A debate about the pros and cons of the two technologies has been raging for the last month or two (example here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/7iqzrl/all_the_fancy_stuff_apart_raiblocks_xrb_is_far/) but they both offer zero transaction fees and very fast transaction times, via ledgers that are more complex than a linear block chain.

Today as an experiment I sent about a dozen raiblocks transactions, all with zero fees and sub-second transaction times.

Given that Raiblocks appears to be a viable competitor to IOTA and at a similar maturity level from a raw usability / technology standpoint while having a market cap equal to 1/40th of IOTA, there has been a lot of buzz in the community about it potentially being poised for a major pump.

However, currently Raiblocks has been severely limited by being difficult to buy. Only two exchanges host it ([bitgrail](https://bitgrail.com/market/BTC-XRB) and Mercatox. Both exchanges have very limited trading options, in my experience mediocre stability, and are relatively unknown and untrusted by the community. There is a major lack of liquidity and significant price differences between bitgrail and [Mercatox](https://coincodex.com/exchange/mercatox/) are common (usually bitgrail has more volume and lower prices).

However, today, in discord a member of the Raiblocks team stated the following:

At the same time, today a new exchange announced it will be launching with Raiblocks as one of its first 15 currencies: https://twitter.com/SCXchange/status/942558679295037440

In terms of bringing in liquidity, this could be a huge deal for Raiblocks, that said they suffer from some of the same weaknesses as IOTA. For example, the desktop wallet is not at all user unfriendly, it acts as a node and has to sync the blockchain which takes days if you don't download it as a zip from github. And the first deposit into a new raiblocks wallet can for some reason take an hour to appear, even if all subsequent transactions are instant. This was definitely off putting to me as a new user (although the raiblocks discord is awesome and the team was super helpful in answering my questions.

I'd love to hear what you guys think, is Raiblocks a legit contender to IOTA, or does IOTA deserve its 40x market cap? Only time will truly tell.

Full disclosure: I am a small time investor and own a small amount of both IOTA and Raiblocks
