In the south east of Iceland there is a place called Jökulsárlón, the glacier lagoon. Ice blocks break off from the glacier and float in the lagoon. As the lagoon is connecte to the ocean, the ice blocks are being carried to the sea through a small but strong stream.
So the coastline along this area provides a very special view as most of these ice blocks strand on the beach.

With the midnight sun, a full moon and a nice sky we really had a beautiful scenery that night.

gullfoss - golden falls
On our first day we were travelling on the so called Golden Circle, a very popular tourist route near Reykjavik. After visiting the Geysir we headed to Gullfoss waterfall in the evening.
As I haven't seen such a big waterfall before, I really was overwhelmed by the power of this impressive piece of nature. Could have watched the water going down these two wide steps into the canyon for hours.
Although we have seen an even more impressive waterfall a few days later, I think this one remains as one of my favorite experiences on Iceland.

iceland greens
When we first arrived on Iceland, I was very surprised about the rough landscape. During the 1 hour drive from the airport to Reykjavik we have seen no trees, no plants and no grasses. If you're used to green surrounding this feels kind of strange the first minutes...

But the icelandic landscape has a lot of faces and changes within minutes of driving. Regarding the greens it became better to the south near Vík í Mýrdal. I never expected to find such fine greens on Iceland. Worth taking a photo.

waterfall of the gods
Here is a second upload of the icelandic waterfall "Goðafoss" captured in July .
We've first been there at around noon that day but couldn't get some decent pictures as the light was bad and it was crowded with tourists. In the evening we returned and had some nice clouds + almost no other people around. Yet one of these rare tourusts managed to appear on my picture :D
