As the years' end looms in the horizon and so it is the usual time to think. To look back at what happened in 2018 and to start planning on what's next.

Although it was a relatively strange year for crypto - to put it mildly - but it was still a great year! 
Are you still not convinced? 
Well, grab a cup of coffee (or any other warm beverage of your choice) and let's reminisce together.

# End of the Year Review

During 2018, DSound: 

* reached over **5.000** active posters and at least 30.000 listeners. 
And we are not even counting lurkers or the shyest among us.  ~~~~

* Our active posters come from all over the world!

A rundown by country would be as follows:

All these stats were made by using the open voluntary information from our users profiles



* had **~25.000 sounds** posted, with a mean duration of ~8 minutes. This means the average user posts **~5 times**.
This also means a whooping **~3000 hours** of sounds were made available to the world in our platform.
That's enough to get to the Moon and back almost 22 times (using the appropriate vehicle...)!

* A very conservative estimate shows that our sounds were played for **~54.000 hours**! 
Forget about the Moon - with that amount of time, you can get to Mars and back almost 4 times...

* Each post was upvoted on average **16 times**. 
Again this is an average - if your posts weren't as sucessful, just keep improving, build your fanbase and get your name out there! 
There's plenty of time for that in 2019.

* was used by a very varied crowd. Posts on DSound covered most music styles, yet some were more **POP**ular than others...

It is great to see that our tribe love **original** works above everything else. It is also great to see that we are reaching podcasters all-over-the-world and that we are used to spread not only great music, but also ideas, lifestyles - and above all making humans connect.

The year 2018 was a great year for DSound - we have improved and launched several major updates and we have been listening to the community.

And it wasn't completely innocently that we were making jokes about space. Space exploration is all about improving our limitations and out-do ourselves. 
And that is precisely what we are aiming for in 2019.

In 2019, we hope to make DSound bigger and better. To improve the way you can interact with the community and to really make it a force to be reckoned with. 

But again, DSound is nothing without its community - and so an heartfelt thank you to all the tribe members. We love you all, unconditionally!

## What is DSound?
DSound is a decentralized web application that allows anyone to upload, listen and discover music and other sounds stored on top of the IPFS Network. 

It uses STEEM blockchain as a persistent database, so by posting their sounds the authors can earn rewards in cryptocurrency, when other users like their content, which can be exchanged easily to US Dollars, Euros or any other currency, with a look and feel very similar to Soundcloud.
