I've been experimenting with proof of work and proof of stake to get cryptocurrency.  Well it's very tough to do proof of work, which is using hardware to mine coins.  

You could get contracts for cloudmining, but I've been scammed so many times so I won't trust sites like that anymore, even if they are legitimate.  I'm trying proof of stake because you don't need to buy any machines or graphics cards to get coins.  

Pretty much you get to keep your coins in your wallet and then those coins are used to process transactions and you get rewarded with more coins.  

Right now I'm still trying it out with Bitbeans and another cryptocurrency.  I'll be giving a review on Bitbeans in a week or two after thorough testing.
