Every time I come to Szeged by car, I pass a passage that catches my attention.  This Wednesday, on my walk, I decided to take a close look at it. As always, I left the car behind the great cathedral on Dom Square. The beautiful winter sky announced to me that after visiting that pass, I would take a little longer walk and surely see something interesting. I started paying attention to details. And what else, when I have already seen the most interesting things in Szeged 😀 Dome Square, around which the university building is located, is recognizable by the cathedral with two bell towers. ||| |-|-| ||| |||   The contrast of orange brick, white sculptures and blue sky is perfect for photography.  Szeged is a university town, full of young people and wherever you go, you come across a building that belongs to the university.    This one is central in a beautifully decorated square, opposite the park with a monument dedicated to András Dugonics (1740–1818), who was a Hungarian writer, priest and professor of mathematics and physics. The right personality for a monument near the university building.  On the promenade next to the Tisza River, there is a section with university clinics. I recognized that they were young doctors because of the white uniforms they were wearing.     In addition to these buildings from the 19th century, some sculptures are also interesting.  For this young lady with a hat, who invites you to sit next to her and take a break, I was told that she has a twin in Paris.   If anyone saw while walking next to her on the streets of Paris, please share the picture 🙂  At the entrance to the main pedestrian street, I am greeted by a building with the most beautiful dome in Szeged and two recognizable figures, "Violinist" and "Girl with a dog".     In order not to head again towards Szeged's large big [Szechenyi Square](https://peakd.com/hive-155530/@duskobgd/a-walk-in-the-szeged) I turn into a side street and continue towards the passage I wanted to show you.   I come across a beautiful Protestant church and photograph the sculptures on its black brick facade.  ||| |-|-| ||| |||  And finally, I arrive in front of the passage, the **Hero's Gate**.    ||| |-|-| ||| |||     Although participants on the side of the defeated powers in the First World War, the citizens of Szeged, with this passage (gate) and the frescoes and memorial plaques on the walls and arch of the gate, pay respect to all Hungarian soldiers who died in the battles in which they participated. This gate, painted with frescoes and decorated with sculptures of soldiers, is one of the rare outdoor installations of this type. The verse written on the facade below the balcony is interesting: "Life preserves the memory of our faithful sons who died heroically." And if there is someone who knows Hungarian (my friends from Apatin?), maybe they can give us a more accurate translation. When I finally saw this gate up close, I went to my favorite Reok pastry shop for a well-deserved dessert.  After the sweet cake, I continue walking through the streets full of fallen leaves, and take pictures of some interesting details.       I emerge at the building of the oldest Spa center in Szeged, a beautiful white building, which I have never been to before.     In front of the spa center building there is a fountain with thermal healing hot water.      A beautifully decorated area where you can take a break and drink some healing water. I deliberately do not write that you can "refresh" here, because the water temperature is over 50°C. Street after street, all pedestrian, because the tourist bus is not in operation, we slowly enter the evening and approach the central pedestrian street from the other side, where we are greeted by some more sculptures.       In the distance you can see the tower of the Protestant church, which looks beautiful at night.   And on the square there is a monument with lions and a monument to Lajos Kosuth, a revolutionary and Hungarian fighter for independence.      |||| |-|-|-| |||| |||| Now I'm already walking through the empty streets towards the hotel, and on the way I come across a part of the university where students study music 🙂 |||| |-|-|-| |||| |||| |||| |-|-|-| |||| |||| As a voyeur, I photograph hard-working children and when they notice me, I quickly move on.    I pass by the Piano Hotel, right next to the windows of the university where the sound of the piano is coming from (my piano comes to mind 🙂) and after a long #wednesdaywalk, I enter the hotel room of the Sciance Hotel for a well-deserved rest.  After walks like this, I fall asleep as soon as my head touches the pillow. The best sleep after the best walk on Wednesday.
