"Excuse me, sir. Could you tell me how to get to the community center?"
"Yeah! Of course! Just keep driving until you see the big tree, then turn left."
"The *big tree*?"
"Yes, you can't miss it. It's not far."
He drove on, oblivious as the forest closed in around him.

This one's based on a true story. The forest didn't actually swallow the car though. It just turned out that the community center was in the mountains, up a winding road, several miles away from the point it was supposed to not be far from. Some people should be banned for life from giving directions 😑. 

On another note, I'm using a different tag so as not to confuse people who are looking for the official Fifty Word Story Challenge prompts. I get mine from https://randomwordgenerator.com/ whenever the mood strikes me. And yes, this story was inspired by the word 'far'.
