“Netala! wake up already we are going to be late and I don’t want to miss the audition for the play I singed up for the other day” Mona her roommate complained as she shook Netela trying to wake her. “Is that supposed to be today?” Netala whined “I thought it was going to be next week”, “next year even” Mona replied sarcastically.

Comprehensive high always looked the same everyday, yea it was a standard school wasn’t it supposed to look the same, it’s not like it’s supposed to be changing building position and colors Netala thought to herself and laughed. Yet for some reasons she felt an unusual chill in the air, the one that creeped you out and made your hair stand on edge. “Mona does anything feel different?” Mona rolled her eyes “yes something does feel different, she turned looking Netala in the eye, The fact that we are terribly late and I might miss my audition!!” She screamed. Netala was stunned to silence for like a minute and did not know how to reply. After she regained composure she sadly said “I’m sorry that we are late because of me Mona.” “I’m sorry for loosing my cool and shouting I shouldn’t have done that” Mona replied.

It was 9:00am when we finally arrived school, it was already past announcements and the first class was already over. We had like 30mins before the audition and Mona hurriedly went to the bathroom to change into her costume. She was auditioning for the role of the ice queen.

I followed Mona into the theatre, and it was packed with the class elites and there was this noticeably cute new guy with this cold but warm air around him, the kind that warns you to keep away but you can’t help going close to. I thought to myself looks like we have a new student, yeah we missed first class and probably his introduction to class. I looked over to Mona but she didn't’t notice him yet, yea she was focused on trying to get her play right.

Backtrack to our entrance into the theater, when I say the elites I mean Jessi, Freya, Judith and John the three musketeers and their all time star player John who for some unknown reasons decided to roll with the class-I mean school hotties and total bullies. I knew Mona was trying for a play but I didn’t know it was a play these little demons contorted, and we are like the least famous in school. This isn’t going to go well I face palmed.

They look at us and Freya the queen bee of the pack shares a laugh with Judith, i roll my eyes and hope that I do not have like a stain on my outfit cause that joke they shared I’m sure was at our expense. The group motions for the first person to start the audition and in goes Manon the wannabe cool girl, she recites her line making weird body movements and I want to block my ears and blindfold myself, the only reason I’m stomaching being in the same space as the notorious elites is because of Mona.

I think the new guy notices my scrunched up face and walks up to me, “hey, my name is Argo, you don’t look like you’re enjoying the show much”. I sigh and say “just can’t wait for Mona’s turn so I can leave this space. So you’re new here”. 

“Yes, my parents had this new job here, we had to move, so here I am”. I get lost in his eyes, the color of obsidian, that I forget he is talking. But thankfully my brain reconnects and I quickly reply “that’s cool, it’s not that bad here, the elites do what every other *i am hot and I wanna be constantly noticed high school kid do*. Asides that every other person and thing is ok. I am Netela by the way” before we could continue our conversation, I hear the call for Mona to present her act, so I sit up and watch her smash it cause I know she will.

Mona looks the Judges made up of the elite snobs dead in the eye as she recites her line,

I miss out on her remaining lines because I get sucked into a vision where I see fighting and a guy with obsidian eyes. Mona taps me excited that she got the part, I have to play along like I watched it all. I guess she was so good even the elites snob couldn’t reject her.

Me, Mona and Argo leave the hall and head to class, all the while I keep sneaking glances at mr new guy.

After school hours, Argo approaches me, “Hey Netela, I noticed you staring at me, any problem or you find me so cute?” He smiles showing his dimples and a blush creeps up my neck when I say “uhm, no..no problem at all, I guess your cute and all”. I chuckle. After the awkward conversation we exchanged numbers and he decided to walk me and Mona home.

That night I had a similar vision again this time I am in a forest where I see a dragon like bird creature trying to fight off two persons who are trapping it with an obsidian shadow like restraint, when it look like it would break through it a third person appears and pierces it with a shadow arrow the dragon bird scratches his neck before it succumbs. And then I notice the face of the person. It is Argo.

The next morning, Argo is at my front door. And he tells me he had a dream about me. After he narrates everything and I do the same. I found out I am now stuck in a supernatural war between the wyvern and the shadow fae. They are trying to stop the rogue wyvern from destroying the city and I am the psychic that will lead them to their hide outs.
