Hey dear Hiveans, I wish you a nice start to the week and hope you feel good! Today I visited a forest and found some mushrooms. I would like to show you one of my findings in this post and hope you find it interesting. In this season, mainly bracket fungus grow and this mushroom, which is slightly covered with frost, is also one. It bears the name common split gill and scientifically Schizophyllum commune. In the forest, this mushroom prefers to grow in lighter areas and you rarely find it In the shady parts of the forest. This mushroom prefers to grow on hardwood but also on coniferous wood and the fruit body usually grows up to 5 cm wide. Due to the rare appearance, a risk of confusion is rather rare and this mushroom can be found all around the year, it is also very widespread. This fungus is distributed worldwide and there are a total of 5 different species distributed around the globe except in Antarctica. Schizophyllum commune is not edible and you should also be careful not to smell it so you don't inhale the spores, as this could damage your lungs. Thank you for stopping by and watching! I took the pictures with my Sony Alpha 6000 and Sony SEL-55210 Telephoto Zoom Lens (55-210mm).
