Exploring Big Buddha of Hong Kong
Hey everyone, first of all I would like to welcome you to my new post and hope you have a pleasant start into the new weekend! In this post I would like to share something about an experience with you that I had in Hong Kong and I am happy if you can learn new things.

One of the biggest highlights when it comes to culture is probably visiting Big Buddha of Hong Kong which is located outside the city on the island of Lantau, but can be easily reached by different methods. There is the possibility to come here by taxi, metro or bus and it's probably best to come here in the morning, which has the advantage of avoiding the large crowds of visitors and maybe a day during the week should also be chosen on which it is rather quiet. This excursion combines culture, hiking and nature and when someone arrive at the location, a cable car leads up to the statue and, except for the cable car, admission is free. There are different types of cable car and in addition to the normal one there is also the crystal cabin where the floor is transparent but the ride takes the same time and visitors are on top of the platform in about 30 minutes. For people with fear of heights there could be problems with the cable car, but it's by large a very comfortable gondola which is also barrier-free accessible and also at the other places except for the steps that lead to the Buddha this is also the case.

Next to the Buddha there is a small stand which sells vouchers for a vegetarian menu which I can recommend in any case and also the restaurant is located in an extremely comfortable environment next to a monastery and contains relatively large portions for a fair price. In order to get to the Buddha statue itself, it first needs a path that leads 250 steps up and while the outside of the statue can be visited free of charge, a small fee is charged for the inner part and because of all the steps that lead up, attention should be paid to comfortable footwear. The well-known Po Lin monastery should also be visited and there is also something hidden next to the Buddha statue, a path which is also called path of wisdom and leads through a small piece of forest and as the name says has a great spiritual value. If you want to continue walking, you can also choose other hiking trails and for those who would like to shop, there are also some shops here which can be visited and it can be said that there is something for pretty much everyone here.
