*I seem to get in tree moods from time to time...I think just because I Love trees* *This was my first pyrography tree, and I am very happy with the way it came out* *Burning onto leather is a bit tricky, because unlike wood, you cannot sand it down if you make a mistake. It is what it is, so I try not to make mistakes, and if I do I incorporate them into the image...* *To begin, it needs to be lightly sketched in graphite, then outlined with the burner. There are various tips that work well for shading on leather, so I switch to these to burn in all of the depth. This process took about 5 - 6 hours...* *After the burning is finished, I then make the holes for the elastic if it is to be a travelers notebook style, and burnish the edges.* *For this journal I decided to go with a light blue dye wash, to give the appearance of sky...and then sealed it with a super shene...* *All that is left at this point, is give it a quick buff, add the elastics, and put some inserts into it* *Living full time in an RV now, one of the hurdles is tiny work spaces :) But we are in the process of building a nice bench for leatherwork, that will double for a really nice food prep area (not at the same time of course!)* Thanks for reading...and happy journaling...
