Buddha* I'm sorry to disappoint you but there is no guideline to happiness. No one can assure you that if you do this and that you will become happy. Happiness has nothing to do with ephemeral pleasures. Thus, it cannot be marketed. The whole materialistic approach of our days that implies that by buying stuff you will get happier is completely wrong. You cannot buy happiness. In fact that way you get more and more miserable, as you will never stop wanting stuff, you will never compromise with what you have and you will always want more. This endless game of accumulating can only make you feel more anxious, more depressed and less happy. Don’t mistake pleasure for happiness. You can feel pleasure by eating a chocolate, by buying a new car, by watching your favourite TV series but none of all these things mean that you are truly happy. The constant chasing of pleasure leads in sacrificing your dreams in the name of it and becoming passionless about your future. In other words you will end up chasing your tail. Shit happens. When things don’t go the way you want, when you have negative emotions, when failure knocks your door, it’s OK. You cannot delete everything bad in order to try to be happy. You cannot always stay positive, that’s life. Accept that and move on. If you believe that you have to be happy no matter what, then obviously you are on the wrong path. So what is happiness? Happiness is about looking at the forest and not the tree. Happiness is to try, to dream big and work your ass towards it, to live. Happiness is where is action. When you create something, when you do what you are passionate about, when you accomplish something, when you are in the way of becoming the person you want to be. Happiness is not in the result, is in the process. By living and not just existing, that is when you will become happy.
