Today was another sunny day, though this morning still held a slight chill as I enjoyed my early morning walk through a nearby nature reserve.

There were some lovely views from the top.  Nobody would guess there was a housing estate nearby.

At the base of the wooden steps, there is a bench where you can take a moment to relax and enjoy the pond area nearby.

Once I descended the steps, I followed the path that hugged the riverbank.  Across the river, I noticed some large fungi sprouting from a tree trunk.

I had to tread carefully to avoid tripping over the gnarled tree roots that jutted out from the ground.

This highlights the bad side of human behaviour. Recently, someone has discarded large tyres and an old bathtub along the footpath. Given that there is no vehicle access at this location, a lot of effort went into carrying these items. It would have been far easier and more environmentally responsible to take them to a recycling depot.

After reaching the midpoint of my walk, I got on the flat footpath where volunteers from the nature reserve were building a new fence using a traditional technique known as hedge laying.  The wooden posts are put vertically into the ground in a single row. Branches are then woven into both sides of the stakes.

At the end of my walk, I was pleased to see the vibrant yellow gorse and delicate blossoms along the footpath, signalling the arrival of spring.
