For today's outing, we had a walk around the Hardwick Ponds which is a 2.6 km circular route and is considered an easy flat route.

As we walked, we were greeted by the sight of swans preening their feathers, ensuring they remain clean and waterproof. With nesting season approaching, they will be preparing to lay eggs soon.

As we strolled along the footpaths, we noticed apple galls on nearby trees. Growths form when insects lay their eggs on the leaves or stems, and then as the larvae grow, they eventually eat their way out.

In spring, the area comes to life with pretty apple blossoms. The blossoms smell like a really sweet perfume.

We also came across some cows grazing in the fields and having a drink at the side of the pond. They were very interested in us, but they came across as gentle giants.

The marsh marigolds looked lovely at the side of the pond. They are commonly found in wetlands, marshes, and along the river banks.

It was good to take another walk while the sun was still shining making it a perfect day outdoors. Hopefully, many more sunny days are ahead but being in the UK, anything can happen!
