My children recently decided to learn to play chess. Their father taught them the basic moves and then took them to an interest group where they learned more about the sport.

As an intellectual mother, this makes me very happy. First, with all the benefits chess has on intelligence, intellect is reasoning in young people and, of course, in us adults.
On the other hand, it's a healthy, calm sport that keeps them entertained at home. That last part also makes me very happy since they are classical guitar students, and contact sports like soccer, baseball, and the like can injure their hands. And that can thwart their careers as musicians.

So they're immersed in a small home tournament and compete against each other. They've even included my husband as one of the competitors and sometimes as a judge.
My husband is another one who has taught them some moves and strategies learned over many years of playing.
I forgot how much ELO he told me he had, and I was embarrassed to ask him again. All I know is that for not being a professional player, it was quite a lot.

So I decided to look for a community that would appreciate this beautiful and interesting sport—an enigma, too—so I could share my children's achievements and my newfound passion for encouraging them to become better players every day.

Hola, amigos del ajedrez.

Recientemente mis hijos decidieron aprender a jugar ajedrez. Su padre les enseñó los movimientos básicos las jugadas y después los llevó a un círculo de interés donde aprendieron más a profundidad sobre este deporte.

Como madre intelectual a mí eso me hace muy feliz. Primero con todos los beneficios que tiene el ajedrez sobre la inteligencia el intelecto es raciocinio en los jóvenes y, por supuesto, en nosotros los adultos.
Por otro lado es un deporte sano tranquilo y que los mantiene en casa entretenidos. A mí esa última parte me hace también muy feliz ya que ellos son estudiantes de guitarra clásica y con deportes de contacto como el fútbol, el béisbol y similares se pueden lesionar las manos. Y eso les puede frustrar su carrera de músicos.

Así que andan inmersos en un pequeño torneo hogareño y compiten entre sí. Incluso han incluido a mi esposo como parte de los competidores y en ocasiones juez.
Mi esposo es otro de los que los ha enseñado con algunas jugadas y estrategias aprendidas durante muchos años de jugar. 
Olvidé cuánto de ELO me dijo tener y me dio pena preguntarle otra vez. Solo sé que para no ser un jugador profesional era bastante.

Así que decidí buscar alguna comunidad donde apreciaran este hermoso e interesante deporte; enigmático además, para compartir los logros de mis hijos y mi nueva pasión de impulsarlos a ser mejores jugadores cada día.
