**What is Gridcoin?**
>Gridcoin is a blockchain-based distributed computing network powered by the idle processing potential of existing hardware.
Gridcoin blockchain mints and distributes cryptocurrency in relation to the processing power a network participant directs toward data-driven analysis and scientific discovery.

**How it works?**

Source - [Gridcoin Whitepaper](https://github.com/gridcoin-community/Whitepaper/blob/master/Gridcoin_White_Paper_1.0.1.md)

>Gridcoin uses a modified proof-of-stake timestamping system called **proof-of-research** to reward participants for computational work completed on [BOINC](https://boinc.berkeley.edu/index.php). Source - [Wiki](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berkeley_Open_Infrastructure_for_Network_Computing)

**Why did I choose this project for Russian translation?**

Because I like the idea behind BOINC, and I appreciate the role of Gridcoin in this complex system.

The very idea that the *biggest scientific tasks can be split into many small ones and solved jointly by volunteers from all over the world* is brilliant. Just imagine millions of devices around the world helping scientists to search for extraterrestrial life, invent cancer and AIDS treatment methods or study the human genome... And all the volunteers can be rewarded with Gridcoin tokens for their contributions. That's awesome!

And that's why I'm on it, not only as a translator, but as a cruncher as well;)

#### Translation Overview

This is the 1st translation I made for Gridcoin Whitepaper. 49% of the project was translated into Russian string by string.

The translated part provides information about the project mission, describes its operating principles and defines the concepts of "idle processing potential", "distributed computing platforms", "data analytics projects" etc.

Many specific words and terms used in this project are known to me after translating the Byteball bots and Byteball wiki. This applies to the part that tells us about the BOINC platform, its purpose and operation principles.

I left some words like "host", "crunching", "stakers" untranslated. Google search told me they are widely used by the relevant Russian audience, just being written in Russian letters.
