The water is boiling; soon it shall turn to steem!
The water being the ideas in my mind. The pot being this platform. And steem, being the product of my content!

Just wanted to explain, in case you read the title and thought I was teaching a cooking class...

# Hi, I'm Jerry!

I'm fairly new to blogging. I feel like I was a little discouraged in high school with my writing, but found it came rather naturally in college; almost good even. I haven't really been pursuing anything involved with writing until recently. Majoring finance, my focus has been on the financial markets and progressing up the corporate ladder the last 10 or so years.

In the last year my focus shifted. I don't know if it's just that I'm getting older, and that time feels like it's going by so fast, or if I've just woken up to the fact that there's more to life than working long hours and chasing a buck.

There's this internal urge in me to do something more with my life; something bigger than just sitting at a desk doing the same thing day in and day out. I'm looking for something that lets me be creative again and feel accomplished, while making an impact in some way.

I decided that I wanted to find a way to give back and help those who, similar to my own upbringings, didn't get the guidance elsewhere.

There was no one telling me how to budget my money growing up; that I should save and invest. I didn't have guidance on how to get a job or get into college; what things to do in preparation, or how I could even afford it. No one was saying to pick up a book and read, read, read if I wanted to change my quality of life. No, unfortunately, I've had to stumble through life by trial and error like most of us have. But I'm not willing to accept that's just how life is. That's why I began contributing to [Espresso My Kitchen](https://www.espressomykitchen.com/category/wealth/) A food blog my fiance started. Maybe now the boiling water analogy makes more sense :)

We've recently expanded into other categories; including, wealth and lifestyle that I contribute to. The wealth portion of Espresso My Kitchen is targeted at anyone looking to improve mentally and financially. I write about the information I wish I knew sooner, my experiences, and the things I continue to learn. I tend to focus on ways to save money, make money, and ways to improve as an individual. I want to help you learn more and earn more, and I have the same goal for myself.

# I need your help

I realize I have a long way to go as well in all aspects of my life. Which brings me to the main reason why I'm here. I can write for years and think it's great, but it's not as meaningful if others aren't benefiting from it as I intended. I'm determined to improve as a writer. I'm hoping the steemit community can help validate if I'm on the right track or if I need to adjust my approach. I plan on posting my blogs here in hopes of getting more feedback and sharing with a broader audience; while connecting with others with similar interests. Blockchain is the future, and I'm excited to be a part of it anyway I can!

Thanks to @cryptocoinkick for giving me the nudge I needed to get going with steemit.
