The title of this movie will make you believe that this is a spy or thriller film, but it is not. A good friend of mine recommended this movie to me. She told me that this movie was worth watching, especially for women, and that it conveys deception at its highest peak that leaves one flabbergasted. It did that to me after I finished watching the movie; I was lost for words.

This movie is actually based on a true story of  Robert Freegard who is a British conman who defrauds women of their money by pretending to be an MI5 agent.  His exact victims were not portrayed in the movie but fictional characters were used to represent his victims. 

Rogue Agent (2022), is a British mystery film that is adapted from an article titled, "Chasing Agent Freegard" by Michael Bronne. The movie was directed by Adam Patterson and Declan Lawn. The screenplay was co-written with Michael Bronne and the directors with its cinematography handled by Larry Smith. This movie starred James Norton, Gemma Arterton, Edwina Findley, Shazad Latifah, and Julian Barratt. 

For this particular movie, I won't be talking about the synopsis because I can't talk about it without including some spoilers. You just have to trust my review and go watch this movie blindly with an open mind. All I can say about this movie is that it is a documentary that I highly recommend women, especially, to watch and learn from the mistakes of Robert Freegard's victims. to also know how to identify signs of deception. 

#### Characters. 

**Norton as Robert Freegard.**

Norton's performance in his role is excellent. He captured and stayed in the spotlight throughout the movie. Though he was very annoying, he was able to bring out his character in a natural way. When I read about the story of Robert Freegard, it was much worse than in this movie adaptation. His character made me wonder how deception is a powerful tool in the wrong hands and what damage it can cause in its wake. Norton's role was a brief rundown of Freegard's story and the unbelievable amount of damage he did. He handled his role like a champ!

Gemma acted as a well-meaning lawyer who caught the eye of Freegard as his next victim. She caught up in his deception by charming his way into her heart like a green snake. Gemma's role was a fictional one that was created to actually portray what Freegard's victims experienced with him. Her performance was fantastic, natural, and relatable to the audience. She was able to portray the zeal she had to bring Freegard down in his devious ways. I enjoyed her performance, and her character was built well.

**Marisa Abela as Sophie Jones**

Marisa acted as a young college girl who was brainwashed by Robert Freegard. Her case was worse. Why?  because she was young and naive. She was just about to begin living her life when Freegard picked her as his next victim. Her performance was amazing and well carried out, and she made sure to connect with the viewers emotionally. She also made the viewers see the extent of the damage done by brainwashing and manipulation. I enjoyed her performance. 
 
These three characters are the best in their performances. Though we have other supporting characters which I find as non-relevant or can I say their character was not built well to impact the storyline of the movie but these characters brought the movie to life.
 
#### My Review And Rating. 
 
Rating this movie, I will give it 4. 5 out of 5 stars. It is a very relatable movie. A movie that portrays the damage of manipulation and deception at its peak. It also portrays how these con artists look for their victims. The plot was written well, and the mystery twist in the plot was well portrayed. The scene arrangements were excellent and the storyline was told peculiarly from different perspectives. 
 
The setting was amazing. The film locations were all beautiful and life to the movie. The directors did a fantastic job with this movie. They made sure to make everything about this natural and realistic. Though some parts of the movie were fictional, they made it all realistic . It was well put together and did exactly what I hoped. Ignore any negative reviews or criticism you might read and give this movie a chance. 
 
Not suitable for teenagers below 17 because of strong language, sexual scenes, and nudity. If you haven't watched it. You should or better still watch the documentary first before grabbing your popcorn for the movie. I hope the movie is insightful to you when you watch it.
