CashFlow 3.0 - Motoring **** Don't forget our *BIG* Etch update at the N.O.M.A.N. meetup next Wednesday. We plan to livestream it on YouTube too. Details will be shared on social media next week**** “Sir, do you mind leaving our stand. How dare you say that the door handle of our DB7 and the Fiesta is the same…” Turned out it was. Both the exclusive Aston Martin DB7 and the common Ford Fiesta did share the same door handle *and* many other parts. My friend Dylan was right. Peugeot, Renault, Citroen etc. are all basically the same. They share many parts. So what makes a person go out and buy a Peugeot rather than a Renault, or a Citroen instead of a Ford? It used to be the quality that the brand represented. Good or cheap. “Why do Skodas have heated rear windscreens? To keep your hands warm while you are pushing it.” But not anymore. The majority of new cars are good. They just sell you a different badge. In the future, there will be no car “brands” or at least in the practical get me from A - B category. Last week I was at the Geneva Motor show to explore the idea of “unbranded” cars to workers within the Etch economy. Think of it as the Android of the car world. Let me explain: I have a young family. What we need is a car with seven seats, economical engine, and a very large boot. That's it. If I wanted a crazy sport car then I would want a brand to represent the heritage of that car. But my need is for a practical family car. Android no-frills version is fine. No brand is better than a cheap brand, right?? But how could an “unbranded” car sell itself? “I would like to order a car I saw the other day… is has four wheels, no steering wheel - it looks great... no, it did not have a badge, I have no idea what it is...” And how about getting insurance? “Make and model please?” “It has no make, and the model is “chassis for a family of five with a heritage body...” And what about how it drives? Irrelevant. With fully autonomous cars around the corner, it will be illegal for humans to drive on the public roads. You need to think of "cars" of the future more like a luxurious caravan - bed and all. (BTW - I love cars and the act of driving itself. I guess you could call me a "petrol head". But I cannot wait for fully autonomous cars on our roads. The current situation is just crazy.") With Etch, workers being paid through our payroll platform will have the opportunity to split their wages to dedicated smart contracts through our budgeting tool (we call this CashFlow 3.0), that in turn, will allow “unbranded” vendors to give them a better deal. Deals on energy, insurance, entertainment and who knows, one day "unbranded" cars. No advertising needed. Welcome to your future life in the Etch economy. Euros Evans
