Citizen science is a great way to involve children and adults in the discovery of nature and contributing to scientific research and conservation. Project FeederWatch through Cornell University is a great way to get involved in citizen science. You can learn more at the [Project FeederWatch](http://feederwatch.org) website. I typically watch birds on Saturday and Sunday. This is my report for 10-11 February 2018.
) Created Using MS PowerPoint and Images from [Project FeederWatch](http://feederwatch.org)
Here is a map of the Project FeederWatch sites collecting counts this season.
# February 2018

The 2017-2018 season goes through 13 April 2018. # Bird Watching Notes ## Saturday Saturday was a partly cloudy day with a high temperature of 14 degrees (F) and a low temperature of 6 degrees (F). There were light snow showers during the day. I caught a glimpse of one of the coyotes in the distance as in hunted for small critters. The coyote still seemed to be favoring one leg.
) *Original Photo*
### Downy Woodpecker
) *Original Photo*

 Range Map [Image Source](https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Downy_Woodpecker/id)
More information on the Downy Woodpeckers can be found at [All About Birds](https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Downy_Woodpecker/id). ### Dark-Eyed Junco
) *Original Photo*

 Range Map [Image Source](https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Dark-eyed_Junco/id)
More information on the Dark-eyed Juncos can be found at [All About Birds](https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Dark-eyed_Junco/id). ## Sunday Sunday was partly sunny with a high temperature of 23 degrees (F) and a low temperature of 3 degrees (F). ### Cooper's Hawk This Cooper's Hawk sat in the tree for over an hour watching my bird feeders. *I must apologize for the quality of these photos, I was taking the shots through a dirty window.*
) *Original Video*

...

) *Original Video*

...

) *Original Video*

 Range Map [Image Source](https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Coopers_Hawk)
More information on the Cooper's Hawks can be found at [All About Birds](https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Coopers_Hawk). ### Red-Winged Blackbird These are immature Red-winged Blackbirds sitting in a tree awaiting their turn at the bird feeders.
) *Original Photo*

 Range Map [Image Source](https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Red-winged_Blackbird)
More information on the Red-winged Blackbirds can be found at [All About Birds](https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Red-winged_Blackbird). # Bird Counts ## Counts for Current Period My bird counts for the two-day period 10-11 February 2018.
) *Snapshot from [Project FeederWatch](http://feederwatch.org) Bird Count Summary*
## Summary of Counts this Season
) *Snapshot from [Project FeederWatch](http://feederwatch.org) Bird Count Summary*
# Previous Project FeederWatch Post [Citizen Science: Project FeederWatch -- Count #13](https://steemit.com/science/@etcmike/6kzxel-citizen-science-project-feederwatch-count-13-report-w-original-photos) [International Progress to Conserve Canada Warblers](https://steemit.com/science/@etcmike/international-progress-to-conserve-canada-warblers) # Use of Original Photos *I used the SteemIt icon in my photo credit to indicate these photographs were originally posted on SteemIt.* *The photographs in this post are free to be used by anyone as long as the photo credit is left on the photographs.* # Photo/Video Editing Video editing performed with [Adobe Primiere Elements 2018](http://amzn.to/2ACD1Fx).
