A Bird of Prey Hiding in My Backyard
On this November day as I was walking past my window I spotted a dark figure slightly hidden, perched in a tree. This dark figure was a hawk waiting patiently and stealth-fully for dinner to land nearby.

Wanting to know what kind of hawk was perched in my backyard I grabbed my cell phone and tried to get a better view.

It appeared to be either a Sharp-Shinned Hawk or a Cooper's Hawk. Both of these hawks are common to this area of Nebraska. At this point I am leaning more toward a Cooper's Hawk but I could be wrong.

When I attempted to sneak even closer for a better view, I startled the hawk and it flew away. No dinner for that hawk in my backyard today!

# Project FeederWatch

[Project FeederWatch](http://feederwatch.org) starts next weekend. I will have my Canon camera setup to take pictures next weekend. It can take much better pictures of elusive birds.
