I Bought a Bucket

Yesterday I saw a fellow Finn @gamer00 [post](https://hive.blog/dailyandfresh/@gamer00/sima-daily-and-fresh-86-366#@eveuncovered/q9f04z) about making Sima, a traditional drink for May 1st and I got inspired. It's been a while since I've made my own, usually I just drink the one mom makes but the circumstances dictate that I can't go homehome. I set out to get the supplies I needed, first thing Monday morning so with some luck the Sima would have time to ferment before the 1st of May. Sugar, brown sugar, lemons, yeast and...

### At that point, I realised I need a container for my drink. A bucket!
<br>

When you make sima, you need something that can hold at least 5 liters of liquid, and preferably has a lid. A standard 10 liter bucket is the best choice, and I was missing one.I don't know how I have survived without owning a bucket. Like ever. I've lived on my own for 9-ish years and I don't remember owning a bucket in all that time. Bucket is such a useful household item; it can hold liquids, used for cleaning solutions, for soaking extra dirty clothes and all sorts of things. And it can be carried by the handle, so useful!

I have plenty of kitchen tools, gadgets, bowls and containers, but a bucket, I have none. It's about damn time to get one!

I feel like bucket is such a weird thing to buy. Buckets have just always been there, back corner of the kitchen, lower right cabinet, full of them! Does one really buy a bucket, or are they just acquired? I know you can get them for free when a new store opens in Finland. They are giving away bucketfuls of buckets! eh eh.

Every home has at least one bucket. Maybe a different bucket for each purpose. I know my mom marks buckets that are strictly to be used for something that will be ingested by a human, so it can't be used to change the oils of a car. Dad always steals them eventually.

I went to my favourite store for home supplies, Clas Ohlson, to buy a bucket. I was aiming for a basic white 10 liter bucket, but all they had was some pastel coloured ones. I despise light pink, so the mint coloured it was and it's quite pretty. I also needed a lid for it. Fun fact, they are sold separately.

## Now I have a bucket, marked as "Eve's bucket - Food" and 5 liters of Sima fermenting in it. I feel like it's in the cards for me to buy another bucket later this year "Eve's bucket - Cleaning"

 Yeah, I just wrote a post about a bucket, so what.
