3 years ago, this date, September 21st, I met Bianca for the first time when we went to visit the city of Utrecht. 3 years later she is still by my side and I love her very much. (omg, this is the same line as this mornings post, but the rest will be different I promise) ----  ----- I had to work this morning in Rotterdam. A server crashed at a company I work for and it needed to be fixed. I just assumed in my mind that it wouldn't take me too long to get it back up and running but I was wrong. (Which is usually the case in my line of work when you think something can be done fast.) I have become friends with the janitor that works there. His name is Mohammed and he's from Marocco. We talk from time to time about our lives in the depth of the building where the server resides. He's 60 and a self-proclaimed expert in relationships. We have a lot of fun talking about it. I told him that it's my 3 year anniversary today and he looked at me and said, 'You need to buy her a gift!' A gift? Of course! That's what you do when it's a special day! He said, 'when it's a special day I always buy a perfume for my wife and she loves it.' 'Wow', I said. I asked, 'have you ever bought her flowers?' He said, 'Oooooh yes! every week I buy her flowers.' I was impressed. I asked, 'So I take it you and her never argue, seems like you are a good man?' He said, 'Ooooh she angry at me every day! But that's normal!' He said with a smile. **(I must admit as a rookie to the relationship business, things like this, leaves me puzzled at times.)** I decided to take his advice though and six hours later, after work, I found myself in a perfume store. Completly lost I asked the girl that worked there for advice. She made me smell 6 different smells she sprayed on a piece of paper. And I went with my gut. I bought a fragrance called Burberry because it smelt the best. The girl wrapped it up really nice in the store. When I got home I decided to be romantic and made the bed and put the gift in the center. When Bianca got home we decided to go for Japanese food for tonight and she went upstairs. ---- ### I waited patiently for the surprise to unfold itself. ----- "Did you buy me a gift!", I heard coming from upstairs. I went upstairs. This was my moment of glory! "I didn't buy you anything and now I feel guilty, I'm so sorry." She was nearly in tears. 'but'.....(I was in serious need of Mohammed's wisdom), this was not the plan.... I said, "But it's a surprise for you! I didn't expect anything!" Really? I said, "Really!" She said: "I will buy you something later this week!" She opened the gift and was very moved. ---  ---- She never had perfume before, only Eau the toilet. (I never knew, I think she smells great in general) She smelled it, and loved it! We went out for dinner this night and Bianca wore her new perfume.
