Life is about relationships and relationships are crucial in what we get in life or how it turns to as none is designed to be self sufficient without having relationship with others. The foremost relationship we have is that of the family before we make others as time and chance permits. As good as relationship and friendship is, it is by choice and not by force and hence, it should be done with utmost sense of mutuality and responsibility with purpose and boundaries well known. However, based on the complexity of human nature and unpredictable events of life, relationships can come to an end if there is need to, though i advocate a peaceful seperation in such cases.

Here is a story of two friends who started their friendship right from their undergraduate days. Both were roommates but studied different courses in the University and were best of friends. Their friendship started based on mutual consent and similar ideologies to life which made them jell fast enough even up until their convocation from the University. Ade and Shola were both posted to the northern part of the country for their national service year though into different states but yet, their friendship still continues as they visited each other distance nothwitstanding. When it got to the time of getting married, both were of immense support to one another depicting how great their friendship was.

Shola brought a business strategy to Ade which he thinks their collaboration and partnership will be of immense advantage and overall success for them. Ade on a careful thought aligned with Shola's business strategy and he gladly accepted to partner with his friend. Both pulled up resources together and invested in this business with efforts put into it aswell. Initially, it crossed Ade's mind that they have a legal agreement because he remembered a proverb from his tribe which says: "money spoils friendship" as he doesn't want their friendship to end because of money though they haven't had any previous dealing with money in that sense to suggest such. But he neglected that thought because of the trust he had in his friend Shola.

In a space of time, the business (legitimate) grew well and became sought after in their locality because they stayed in the same locality. As time goes on, the business expanded and flourish, however, Ade begins to notice some strange attitude and behavior from Shola especially about the issues regarding money and personal attitudes to him which impacts negatively causing friction in their friendship. These attitudes and behavior became worst which he called the attention of his friend to but it wasn't yielding any good result. Being very uncomfortable with such development as Ade knew this might latter affects him negatively in the future which he is not prepared to experience such, he called his friend for an amicable separation of the business even though it is painful. 

After awhile, Shola agreed and that's how they parted ways. This is how a relationship (friendship) that started well ended because of money not because money is evil but because of the personality involved who traded the relationship all because of money. The relationship could have been salvaged if Shola have amended his ways based on the discussion he had with Ade based on what he noticed which indeed is quite obvious and undeniable. And because Ade values his precious life as friendship can still be made with another person if need be only if he is alive, so he had no choice than to separate. Therefore, no matter the relationship which may involve business deal, it is good to have a formal agreement. Also, it is good to develop good character or virtue as individuals which can withstand money, power, influence especially contrariwise.
