##### Looking for crabs

Being far from the sea, we rarely find crabs in the markets where we live now. If anything, the price is very unfriendly. The crabs - usually a fat round crab - are brought from North Sumatra or West Sumatra alive and are kept in this state until they are sold. Dead crabs are low and they taste awful. Occasionally there is also a sea crab - a crab - with a thin and jagged body. Sea crabs are usually rarely sold alive, and the price is lower than the round crab.

In contrast to kedaan in our village in Aceh, which is close to the sea. Almost every day crabs are always available in the market in various sizes. At least aneuk cakah - small crabs are caught by shrimp seekers or small fish in ponds.

Our village is about five kilometers from the seafront, which lies to the north. Just off the beach, lined ponds with a wide bund, raising the smell of muddy fish mixed with the salty aroma of sea water. Ponds are filled with expensive tiger prawns, and milkfish. Various other fish are also present in the pond, and by the owners are allowed to be taken, in addition to tiger shrimp and specially kept milkfish. And the crabs, which nest in the holes in the bundle added and on the sidelines of the mangrove roots. Various sizes of crabs can be obtained in these ponds. The best time to lure crabs is when the full moon, when the crab is fat and full fleshy, sometimes its females - can be marked by a cover under its round shell, if the male is a pointed pointed triangle full of eggshells.

Most of the men in our village at certain times, usually at night after dusk and go home in the morning - go to Bangka - we call the seafront ponds - looking for fish and crabs. Various types of marine fish and freshwater fish can be obtained. If lucky, can dipiak sembilang, fish like a three-layer catfish that tastes good, grouper, shrimp in various sizes, kadra (mullet) and others. Catch the fish by using a cuddle, a tube like a bubu with both ends open. Lighted by the light of the petromak lamp, the fish will approach the light source, and that's when the duck is buried. The sealed fish were caught by hand from the top of the open top end. I find it hard to imagine catching fish in the muddy waters, with lights of petromak lamps, without the triple patil. The fact is that almost no one ever knew the pistil was ever. We children are not allowed to catch fish directly from the fish. Most of us are allowed to hold and learn to catch fish that have been captured before and put in a bucket of water.

Fishing crabs need preparations. Starting from the search for the bait, which is specifically to attract crabs to approach the rod. Bait is often used is a fresh civet meat, and just cut before leaving for the pond. One or two days before fishing for crabs, some people have been wandering around bamboo groves to smell the existence of a weasel, which smells like a pandanus leaf. Weasels are usually active foraging at night, and daytime sleeping on bamboo stalks.
