We all know that crypto and blockchain are reshaping the digital and financial landscape, and this is true. Along with this, one question always arises: What will happen to privacy? We know that this is a revolution and there are transparency, decentralization, and immutability are associated with blockchain, but here I am talking about data privacy, and here the intersection is anything but it is straightforward. When we see the blockchain technology then it seems great in privacy because there is no centralization based authority that holds your data, and no third party or middle man and everything depends on peer-to-peer, and also the access is open. Privacy and transparency do not always act like best friends, and this is a twist. Ethereum and Bitcoin are public blockchains, and they're specially designed to provide complete transparency. And as you know, every transaction is going to be recorded in the ledger, which is a public ledger. Anyone who owns an internet connection can trace the transaction. Here it is creating a privacy paradox, and even if your name is not attached to your transaction, but very professional hacker can know about your digital identity, and you also know that exchanges require KYC, especially those centralized. This particular thing is identified as a concerning thing by regulators, privacy advocates, and users. Governments, watchdogs, and financial regulation authorities are also concerned about tax evasion, money laundering, and multiple illegal activities, and this will result in a growing tension between compliance and privacy, and this particular thing is not good. Talking about more privacy then there are privacy-centric cryptocurrencies such as Zcash and Monero, and these coins are tackling the issue apart from these coins, Ethereum has started experimenting with privacy layers. There is one more issue with Ethereum, which we will talk about in future posts. Technology comes with drawbacks, that is true, and technology without drawbacks is not possible. Here we have to see that benefits are more or less, and if we see the case, then benefits are more in this technology, that's the reason this field is evolving. Let me talk about the solution. So this technology provides us with all the facilities, but it is decentralized, so it is our responsibility to protect it. Tools and systems can be developed for security that can balance innovation, and they should be easy to use and user-friendly. And this field is evolving, and new easy solutions are always coming in the field. So, here is the final verdict? So answer is that the intersection of privacy and blockchain isn’t a roadblock; we have to see it as an opportunity. This is how we can evolve with technology and also overcome the drawbacks of the technology. Humans make the technology, and it is humans who evolve and improve it. Glad to know your opinion regarding this. Have a wonderful day ahead.
