AFL Premierships Rankings by Chronological relevance
So now that the AFL season is upon us again, I figured it's time to start looking at some numbers.

This is something that I did a while back, but it's now been updated to reflect the latest standings. 

It's actually quite simple, but at the same time, I think it's a very effective way of ranking teams by their AFL premiership success, in that it gives a higher weighting to previous premiers, whilst at the same time, not completely disregarding premierships won in earlier eras. 

It only includes AFL/VFL, because lets face it - the rest are irrelevant. 

So the model is this: Award 1 point for the first premiership, and increment each subsequent premiership by 1 point. Richmond's premiership last year was worth 121 points.

Fitzroy's premierships have been merged with Brisbane, as has South Melbourne and Sydney.
