Lightpainting a hole in the wall
A top night out in the dark and very welcome after a 'brief' 3 months taking a break from photography.

**Lightpainting a hole in the wall**

This shot was made with two lenses and two tripods during a single exposure. First I used a 17-28mm lens to line up and test the exposure on the wall:

![Hole-test-shot1.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/fastchrisuk/23wM4v4bQExoFYBbyTJxgttP57b7d1KMeuWLFrm9C8pwHLFLBZHJv3arKiK6qu9i48YKB.jpg)

I then transferred the camera and changed the lens to a 12mm fisheye lens to test the exposure and line up for the 2nd part of the shot:

Once I was happy with both elements, I set about combining them in to one single exposure. The tricky parts with these shots is not to move the tripod (or trip over it like I regularly do!) and avoid light pollution on to the sensor by making sure the swap is carried out in total darkness.

I've done this type of shot a few times before:

![Socket-rfs.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/fastchrisuk/2423svmuj5U4199nxHoYJQebW1bgeEMuSzukZeYhFFSNRdJS45fRe686BtaTNmnSAHAn1.jpg)

This is the same principle with lens and tripod swaps except here I've used a circuit board as one on the elements:

And I certainly didn't make it easy for myself here where I've added some kinetic zoome pulling during the exposure!

I always aim to shoot all elements in one exposure. I don't see much point in Photoshopping the shizz out of images; where's the fun and skill in that?!

**About me:**
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to create art.
