The Twisted Forest in the Fall
I've been a fan of Padley Gorge in Derbyshire's Peak District for many years. Simply the best time of the year is autumn (or fall if you're in the US). The colours come alive!

This is a post of photos I recently shot in Padley in misty and not so misty conditions.

***Probably the most photographed tree in Padley***

Sometimes it's good to shoot something even if it's been done a million times before. Different light, different weather conditions and fall colours all play their part. Here the mist created some background seperation:

***To do list shot***

On previous visits to Padley, I've noted this point of view as being on my 'to do' list. When the conditions were right, I promised myself to return and shoot it. These were those conditions!

***The Footbridge***

I've shot this footbridge in the dark many times from various angles but never from here. I always impress myself how many ways you can shoot the same subject!

***Couldn't move for photographers everywhere***

Sometimes in Padley, it can get a little overcrowded with photographers which is somewhat annoying! Here though, an unsuspecting photographer was stood in exactly the right place for my composition. He also kept still long enough for the long exposures I was shooting.

***Twisted Oaks***

This is a scene I will probably keep revisiting in different light and weather conditions. This is in landscape 16 x 9 format but I keep on coming away thinking I need to polish this a bit more. There's always a next time...

***The Brook***

I've been experimenting with vertical stitched panoramas and focus stacking which is probably too complicated to explain here. But the results when done right are really high resolution and sharp front to back.

***The Serpent***

The holy grail in photography is supposed to be to convey a mood or emotion. I find this shot a bit imposing with the foreground branch leaning over in a slightly threatening manner. Still not sure about this one!

***Pea Soup Fog***

As we wandered around Padley, the mist became fog and the fog became thicker than ever. I saw this tree and which was mostly devoid of colour so a mono conversion was the only way to go.

I shot many more photos over a few visits but I'll post them another time!

***About me:***
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex, landscape and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; the social side of photography is always good!
