Two days ago I started designing this cute Broken Heart duo lip balm container. I don't know where I got this idea from or where I have the inspiration from. It just came up in my head to make this.

![Nov-12-2017 08-48-33.gif](https://steemitimages.com/DQmaH1ViwZwarEEtmPzgapB3NhnNaFngqSa2bQsZuq6Wjf5/Nov-12-2017%2008-48-33.gif)

First I sketched a half heart shape (Sketch > Spine) and mirrored it ( Sketch > Line > X)

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.04.20.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmYMiMLw1MKiXgyYHsLoEWNL2JEQX2LL7nP3tn6MCMSa4b/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.04.20.png)

Then I extruded it to the height I wanted. (Create > Extrude)

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.05.15.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmRK7PXw2U3BfRx7Dx3x7BNTURKQcSQFkYyuzw8jXFvvdJ/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.05.15.png)

I sketched few lines for the heart to be broken.

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.05.15.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmRK7PXw2U3BfRx7Dx3x7BNTURKQcSQFkYyuzw8jXFvvdJ/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.05.15.png)

Then I Split the body first in two. (Modify > Split body)

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.05.53.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmNqV2pfKWaNzady5amuL6XqFhrtkSHfuXBVa5EQcbqDKq/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.05.53.png)

Now I have two bodies, but I want the heart to have have lids. So I split the two bodies again. (Sketch > Line > Modify > Split Body)

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.06.42.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmSdon4fKZKqjV3wDCwkgxDCyDdmXi7Q6riCTqDAj8QJwR/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.06.42.png)

I hided the left and right lids so I can work on the two containers. I sketched two holes the same size and extruded them both. ( Sketch > Circle > Extrude > operation: Cut). You also see two bigger circles that I offset with 3mm.

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.07.52.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmVoPbgS3cVSXeTtAh72BmWJhPa9QwEC94iJXEgb6xaQkt/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.07.52.png)

The two bigger circles I also extruded for the threads.

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.08.17.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmShJBroaWfmQGdAs1GZhGvLoWg3URr4pAa5Eim19Vd6br/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.08.17.png)

For the containers to be able to open and close I threaded the holes. (Create > Thread)

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.08.46.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmY8BC3uPYD9kC2QvR9P7RrHUR4ikN2FoWKVeTypv6KoJW/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.08.46.png)

I did the same for the holes of the lids.

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.09.14.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmV6SpUqHZTCF9VP35YVfjrgUZk2L21Vem89DjxeBSbkto/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.09.14.png)

Now they are all threaded.

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 13.46.57.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmZre6YJuCj9NbLuVc6aHCBeK63uY8qVpvGm6JNiWhBo3G/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2013.46.57.png)

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.09.27.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmfVrMzSghrZrZyD9NVV2LP7VEXbimtPxrjPBD17S2dmRk/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.09.27.png)

I sketched already a mini heart shape and saved it as a DXF file so I just had to insert the file. I also offset the mini heart.

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.10.12.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmVM2seYmJxMrBLnV2Q1EQ89v1kP2BMAPhhPJTEyBPUt5J/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.10.12.png)

Unfortunately I couldn't Copy Paste or Move the mini heart, so I had to insert the DXF file manually.

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.11.31.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmQ9pLvfGE7ktBYhHfjYcNGKorbs23tRwzQwFDjyCrLNSg/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.11.31.png)

Later on I extruded the outer hearts with 1.5mm

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.12.14.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmYSPo6HmuLRhP4TtpGxEPQHJDHtTut4x5uxeNHCKopD72/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.12.14.png)

For the containers to be able to connect I created holes for the magnets. I have some magnets that I measured and I gave some space around for the magnets to be able to be inserted in the holes. I gave it 0.25mm space. I think that should be enough.

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.12.51.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmVod7TKmrHEpZSSWh4Q1TY8X16LaQ9kteFGQcqJ44VJ3e/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.12.51.png)

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.13.12.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmWL68QVECQTg72X1NmEyRNYuV3y46YQLApGqM2mMS9QUM/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.13.12.png)

Now comes the difficult part because this part is new to me. I wanted to have diamonds around the broken heart so I had to make holes around the heart shape. I know how to do it with a flat surface or round surface. But this is not flat or round, it has many different uneven angles. So it took me a while to find out how.

First I created a circle and extruded it, so it is a new body.

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.14.26.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmfRpTfRsNbnPoRHyYBkHJzxpF4AmWTHU8PdxD9rVQuP98/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.14.26.png)

Later on I moved the body with 1mm to the body inside. Then I Combined it with operation Cut. I kept the body so I can use it for making a pattern.

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.15.49.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmf3LD4Em12mKZUj9qzvdzh6bY1S5ALCcJX1DtTK3ebf6a/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.15.49.png)

I created a pattern using that circle I extruded before. (Create > Pattern > Pattern on Path > Orientation: Path Direction). The last one, Path Direction I found out after looking very long how to. I am happy I found it!

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.16.04.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmdVS8MWBLXZMKkXjaYQC1vv1enxf3P8zwMMYoSzSJFxcc/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.16.04.png)

Now I just need to hide the many round bodies by clicking them.

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.16.22.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmQjcDoz8FjyqnqE2Kk7W9TAi1fDLmAELsjGtHofr8pq8n/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.16.22.png)

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.16.32.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmP7Rh6az9E1LmkJkVFcLv1vbripA65GSUSHv5tosC338R/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.16.32.png)

I did the same pattern for the lower parts.

![Screen Shot 2017-11-11 at 15.17.21.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmUYK2oovRtU3Uoqm7E8fnQRKij1TC5dmQpfkSVLnYYGD9/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-11%20at%2015.17.21.png)

Now it is done!

![Nov-11-2017 13-41-21.gif](https://steemitimages.com/DQmeAWmk3T7cHwUmTYFfwJHUW1t3NrE39r5ExigQ4GtevAm/Nov-11-2017%2013-41-21.gif)

![Nov-11-2017 13-43-29.gif](https://steemitimages.com/DQmQEtGe282XuntvYxDyreRLVhV3nWn2YHfWpvDFnfjvrJj/Nov-11-2017%2013-43-29.gif)

I am very happy with the result, but I am worried about printing them because they have sharp angles and from experience I know, that the printed parts will create Wrapping. In my next post I will show you the printed parts full with diamonds and duo lip balms inside!
