Bitcoin Knots versus Bitcoin Core
![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmS9D4oKfnZyZMvwL64JxCmDQaAhkgSK1nrj7BLXkJDa1u/)Bitcoin Core just pushed for a development nobody really wanted. According to \[Bitcoin University\]([https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkWc2jibQ\_A](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkWc2jibQ_A)) you can now put 100.000 Bytes of Data into the OP\_Return part of the transaction instead of 83 Bytes. The change was already merged into \[Bitcoin Github\]([https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin](https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin)) and will be activated in October 2025.

Node software "Knots" is a version where you can keep the limit to 83 Bytes. Let's see if this results into a Hardfork once the Update gets live at the end of the year. Until now there is 0 awareness outside of Bitcoin that this is happening.
