Can we talk about gitlab?
I do not even know where to post this, or who to ask.

Since Hive forked from the other thing, all code was moved from github to blocktrades' private server's gitlab:

gtg told me the other day that some sort of service would be too expensive on github.
I have no idea what he was talking about. I do not know about these things.
...I am sure Satoshi did not use a credit card to pay for a service on github.

However, I was able to browse, analyse and even contribute to the code of the old thing on github.
It was easy to navigate.
In the gitlab repo, I do not even know where to click.

### Can someone point me to the right repo?

I am looking for the actual hive protocol.

Why are Hive and its tools all jumbled up in a single folder?

### Can someone please explain to me, why we are not going with github?

It is the standard for blockchains ever since BITCOIN.
A lot of people hustle on github and collect stars and reputation there.
For blocktrades' private gitlab, they would need a fresh account, and lose all progress.

I am frustrated.

I was trying to figure out what this means under the hood:

https://gitlab.syncad.com/hive/hive/-/blob/master/doc/witness_parameters.md#hbd_exchange_rate

>The actual price feed is the median of medians. Every round (21 blocks) the median exchange rate is pushed to a queue and the oldest is removed. The median value of the queue is used for any calculations.

Written like a proper programmer: completely useless to a normal person.

How long is that queue?
I assume it is a list with a length around 4500 ?
(21 block = 63 seconds ~ 1 minute)
(3 days = 4320 minutes)
I have no fucking clue.

But really, what can you expect from people who think HIVE was a good name for a project like this?

I should not let these things bother me and just stop trying to look behind the frontend.
Just blog, secure some coins, wait for the right moment to sell, because this ship's direction is unclear.

EDIT:

I have since found my way back into the repo.
I was looking for this, I think:

https://gitlab.syncad.com/hive/hive/-/blob/master/libraries/chain/database.cpp#L4310
