# the lost ward He is told, by the doctor, that what he probably experienced was a nightmare, but Zack knows he was awake. The night nurse, a young man who Zack hasn't met before, tells him that it may have been a ghost. Zack laughs. A ghost! he chuckles. The nurse nods. There are lots of ghosts here, he says. All the people who have died. Don't have nightmares! He closes the door and Zack begins to worry. The next moment the door opens and another nurse walks in. This nurse he has seen before. He tells her what the other nurse said. What other nurse? she says. There is only me working tonight. She then tells him about the story of The Lost Ward. A whole ward went missing. All the nurses, all the doctors, everyone. It sounds like you may have met one of them. She closes the door. Zack begins to think that the staff are all trying to send him mad. But why? He thinks about the strange person who grabbed him by the feet. He tries not to, but he can't help it. # does not correspond It doesn't correspond to reality, Marion says, when Zack tells her about what happened in the night. What are you talking about, he says. Who speaks like that? Is everyone trying mess with his head? Even Marion? She says she is worried about him. Maybe he should see the psychiatrist? I need you to help me get out of here, Zack says. You want another trip to the park? To see the dancing frogs? Zack shakes his head. I need to get out of here permanently before something happens to me. I think someone means me harm. No shit, Marion says. Someone tried to blow you up - someone died in front of you. Someone does want you harm, Zack. But I think you are safer here than anywhere else. Zack nods, but he doesn't believe Marion. He doesn't know who to trust anymore. He needs to escape. But his legs don't work very well. He needs help. He decides he will call in a favour. Marion, he says. Can you ask Vanessa to come in and see me? Marion nods, but Zack can tell she isn't happy. Marion hates Vanessa. ...
