One of the biggest variables affecting markets, in turn, one's wealth, is the actions of the Fed. The Fed went through a tightening phase, much to the dismay of the President. Trump feels there is no inflation, thus, no need to raise interest rates. What he is missing is that inflation is alive and well. The problem is that we do not see it in the usual place: consumer pricing. Instead, the inflation is hidden in asset prices. Everywhere we turn, cheap money is forcing asset prices up. We are engaged in financial engineering with credit at the core of it all. Trump wants more credit to stimulate the ecnomy even further. This would only cause even further "bubbling" which, when popping, would cause an even bigger mess. Asset pricing is already far too expensive.
