<div class="text-justify"> Greetings of the day, <br> The second morning of Ajmer brought with it a different peace. We all got ready early in the morning, because most of our time that day was to be spent in Dargah Sharif. As soon as we came out of the hotel, the slight coolness in the air and the crowd walking in the streets told us that today was going to be as special as the first one. This image created from canva.com As soon as we reached near the Dargah, its white dome and the shining golden Kalash on top became visible from a distance. When the rays of the sun fell on that urn, it seemed as if it was spreading spiritual light all around. Every time someone sees this place, the heart automatically bows down. > A strange silence amidst the crowd There was a gathering of people at every gate of the Dargah—some had come with prayers, some with heartfelt wishes, and some, like me, just to feel the atmosphere. There was a strange silence all around amidst the colorful sheets, children wearing caps, women praying and the hustle and bustle of shops. It seemed as if every person was carrying some hope inside. We also moved slowly and reached inside the Dargah. As soon as we entered the gate, the fragrance of lamps, smoke of incense sticks and sounds of prayers together were creating a different spiritual world. > View of Chhoti Deg and Badi Deg First of all we saw the small cauldron and the big cauldron, inside which were kept rice, pulses, money and things offered by the people. It is surprising to see the vastness of the cauldrons and how lakhs of people come here for centuries with their wishes and this tradition continues with the same vigor even today. Every prayer, every coin and every grain of rice falling into the cauldron tells a story – of someone's hope, someone's trouble, someone's happiness. The people standing around the cauldron were just watching silently, as if they were becoming light by leaving their thoughts there. > The light of the dome and the feeling of the past Standing in the middle of the Dargah and looking upwards, the white dome and the golden Kalash on it become a heart touching sight. The glow of the dome is so clearly visible that it seems as if the entire sky is contained inside it. Despite the crowd, the atmosphere inside is so relaxing that a person forgets all the hustle and bustle of the world for a few moments. That's the beauty of this place it doesn't take anything from you, just leaves you with peace. > Magic of qawwali As we moved a little further, people were sitting in a circle at one place and the Qawwals in front were preparing their instruments. The very first note of music changed the atmosphere completely. When the Qawwal started singing lines like “Khwaja Mere Khwaja…” along with the beats of dholak and the sound of harmonium, a different light was visible on the face of every person sitting there. We also sat there. Elderly people sitting there, children, families, solo travelers – everyone looked the same. Qawwali does not allow any walls; It reaches straight to the heart. At that moment it felt as if time had stopped and every breath was just merging into that tune. By the time the Qawwali ended, light waves of smoke started rising, which was making the whole atmosphere even more spiritual. Perhaps this was one of those moments that is most difficult to put into words. > Crowd inside, splendor outside As we moved forward, the crowd inside increased further. People were slowly moving forward through Karam Bori. Some people had come with sheets, some with flowers, some with just prayers. Seeing so many people together is an experience in itself—each with their own story, but all seeking the same destination: peace. When I came out and looked back towards the market, it was beginning to become evening. Colorful houses built on the mountains and a shining white dome in the middle – this scene looked no less than a picture. The air was beginning to get colder, but my heart was warmed by this entire experience. > Beautiful face of Ajmer in evening light The hustle and bustle of the market had increased in the evening. The shops smelled of perfume, the shops of bedsheets, bangles, caps, everything seemed full of colours. The light of the Dargah and the light falling on it were giving a magical feeling to the entire atmosphere. The small bulbs burning on the hills above looked as if they had fallen from the sky and scattered on the earth. > End of the day, but not the end of the feeling There was definitely tiredness throughout the day, but there was also a strange lightness in the mind. It seemed as if Dargah Sharif had taken from us everything that was sitting heavy inside – and in return had given us a deep peace. This second day of Ajmer was not just a day of sightseeing, but a spiritual journey. A journey that sees not only the eyes but also the heart. Perhaps this is the reason why people come back here again and again… because even after leaving from here, this place remains in the heart.
