Hi mummies and daddies in the hive. Good evening everyone.
This evening, I want to share my own personal tips I used for my kids to reading from ABC to reading.
When my daughter started school for the first time , that was Reception one, I had no experience in teaching toddlers how to write nor read but I believe in laying a well solid foundation for your children in terms of education can/could be the best and great gift to them. 

We (my husband and I ) started teaching her in our own ways of experience. Introducing straight 1,2,3 and A,B,C but we later discovered that she wasn't getting it at all. Then, I went to her school, met with the educator in charge. I asked her to teach me the method they are using in teaching this little one so that we won't be confusing her at home. 

She smiled and said WOW! She taught me how to use shapes in form of figures or numbers and also in alphabets or letters.

I got home and I taught my husband what I learnt from her educator and we became expert in that aspect and that actually helped a lot in the introduction to numbers and alphabets. She graped that so well.

Moving to the next phase; **READING**
We got her  extra queen premier volume one and phonics apart from the one in school. We want to be part of education journey. Did this help? Yes it helped  in reading a lot, joining the letters, starting from two letters word to three letters word and so on. We got the reading experience from this two books.

**Learning through Cartoons**
What did she watch: ABC learnings, phonics and word formations as a cartoon. We engaged her in this aspect because we believe in what we see we remember. She enjoys that alot and she picked spellings from the cartoons.

**Reading and writing board.**

Reading and writing is essential too when you want your little one to improve in their studies. I used board  to teach her how to write and read from the board not just books alone. This can help in so many ways; she learns to read, write, straightened her handwriting, reading while writing and also be a fast writer

**Reading compression**
Reading comprehension passages and how to answer the questions was our next phase.
This is the last phase we taught her. We taught her to use the three RRRs (READ, REPEAT and RECALL) and now she is very brilliant, she does her homework by herself without anyone monitoring, represents her school in competitions.


My son, the little baby of the house. We are glad to use the same method for him and it's working perfectly well for him as well. Even though, there is a little bit difference but we are trying to make him sound like her sister too. He is Basic One and he can read very well too, does him home work by himself with a little help.

I believe, if all parents can have quality time for their children, the work of the teachers might be less. Parents should not leave all responsibilities to the teachers alone. They only spent 5- 8 hours in school if not up to that according to different countries or places.
Let's monitor our children, know where they are lagging behind and give them the full support when necessary.
