When the air starts to enter winter, fungi often appear. They may emerge from the ground, on dead trees, or piles of damp bushes. In my country, the mushrooms or fungi that are often eaten are the annual type of fungus (kulat pak), oyster mushroom (kulat tirom) and toadstool or straw mushroom. **(Ganoderma, kulat iek burong) ** The type in my photo is called the toadstool 'Iek burông'. Or in Latin it is called "Ganoderma". Nobody eats those mushrooms here. However, there is research that shows that mushrooms can be a medicine. Extracts from Ganoderma mushrooms can increase the activity of macrophages, cells that play an important role in the body's immune response. It is said that in eastern countries this mushroom has long been used as a cancer cure.
