Cryptocurrencies that revolve around rewarding content creation. And the many wonderful apps that are being built around it. I see, however, a lot of people praising the coin as the solution to all our problems. While I enjoy the support the coin is getting, we need to conquer a lot of obstacles still. The most important one is probably: using (or burning) the currency.

Creating a need and “hoddle” environment in only one part of the story. The true value is created when there is a feeling that you can get something worth as much. The most common use case for a coin is trading it for fiat. The coins that strive are more often than not the one that have use cases beyond the trading possibility. While this is something that people started to realize the "lesser coins". It seems something that people seem to forget the moment we’re talking about a top 100 ranked coin. I understand the emotional rollercoaster that comes with investing and wanting it to succeed so hard. No one wants to invest in something with the idea that they lose their money. But blind trust also means neglacting the negative and bad sides. Thus losing the chance to debate them and actively help search for a solution.

Let’s for simplicity sake take Steem (I am aware this post will appear on other social media tokenized channels but Steem is a great use case for this example). Steem has a lot going on for it, a huge dedicated audience that “hodling” the coin as well as welcoming new members in their community. Though the coin's value is mostly decided by the traders market, not so much due to the use cases. Until not so long ago there was no real possibilities of burning the coin other than the “so hated, yet so much used” bitbots.

The communities started to realize that if they want the coin to gain value they need new use cases. As such, lately we’ve seen the generation of many of the new dApps that actually offer a way to burn Steem rather than just "make" it. A good example are games like Steem Monsters or Drugwars. They both allow you the option to use Steem to buy in game assets as such giving you an advantage.

Despite all of my talks for room of improvement I do want to emphasize that I believe that we are only at the beginning of exploring decentralized solutions. Keep believing in the social media token’s you’ve invested in, but never be blind for the shortcomings. We can gain so much more from a healthy critical view on matters, that in no way has to mean you are rooting against it.

Posted from my blog with SteemPress : http://foreveraverage.com/2019/03/12/a-strong-coin-is-not-only-marked-by-its-support-but-also-by-its-use-cases/
