Are you sometimes or always comparing yourself to other? Why shouldn't we compare ourselves to others? How to stop it? It could be in a positive way or negative one.** > Why shouldn't we compare ourselves to others? Imagine this: You are comparing yourself to one of your friends. Maybe, because he is smart and talented and you're not, he's heartthrob in your school or workplace but you are just a common guy, or he is rich or always having new things and yours are old.. Or maybe because she is famous and you aren't, she's beautiful and has a good figure and your fat, and there are more possible reasons to compare ourselves to others and can't enumerate them all. > And because you kept on comparing yourself to him, you always do your best to be like him or moreover to exceed him. You work hard just to prove him that you are better than him. **Whatever the reason is, we need to help ourselves to vanish that way of thinking.** ***What if you exceeded that person and you became more popular, smarter, richer, etc. What might be the effect on you?***  [pixabay](https://pixabay.com/en/me-you-selfish-contest-compare-1767687/) *-you will become boastful and arrogant. -you will start considering yourself higher than anyone else. -you don't even accept failure and you will do everything even hurting people's feeling just to defeat him. -your purpose why you strive for something is just to be greater than that person and not because of your own good or well. -you'll not become happy and contented with what you have because what he has, is what you're wanting for.* ***Or, what if he surpassed you? He is becoming greater than you. What would you feel?***  [pixabay](https://pixabay.com/en/balance-swing-equality-measurement-2108024/) *-you will feel upset and disappointed with yourself. -you might stop doing your best. -you may feel that you are no one but a loser. -you will start losing motivation and eventually give up.* > So, what should we do? or How can we stop it? **"STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS but, instead, COMPARE YOURSELF TO YOURSELF"** *-if you compare yourself to yourself, you can see how you improved and succeeded in life. -you can see how you became matured enough in many things NOW compare BEFORE. -you can appreciate even little things, especially big things that you don't have before and you have now. -you can determine what are the things or attitude you should change or develop more. -you can learn to esteem your achievements in life. -you can view your true worth as a humble person. -you'll feel the satisfaction in striving to fulfill your dreams or ambition in life.* **Lesson Learned that can apply here on Steemit:** -do not compare yourself to other Steemians, whether they are better in writing quality content blogs, if they have wide vocabularies or good in grammars, or many upvotes, many followers and even many earnings. -do not compare yourself to other Steemians if they are not good at writing blogs, they make wrong grammars and you're not, if they are just minnow and you are already a dolphin or whale, if you have many whale upvoters and followers and they're not. Remember, individual differences. We have our own talent, abilities, and capabilities. They don't define us and we don't define them either instead, we define our own. Let us all appreciate what has true God given to us without comparing it to others.
