**In all these years that I have been doing video game reviews I have always written about very good, good or average games, but recently when I had a little conversation with a colleague from Hive about old games and it came to my mind to talk about those games that are so bad that instead of leaving them in oblivion we should talk about them so that they are never forgotten and that they remain as a record of how certain things should not be done and because it is also fun to talk bad about those kind of games. Many of these lousy games are focused on an educational environment, being the game I am going to talk about a game focused on diabetes, a platform game that, to call it mediocre is an understatement, since it is a pretty lousy game but worth talking about.**

**Focused on Captain Novolin, the protagonist of this game and the superhero for excellent of this universe of diseases focused on diabetes, we control this character which as expected has diabetes, this being his "superpower" ..... Captain Novolin's mission is to save the mayor of his city which has been kidnapped by an Alien named Blubberman and to achieve our healthy goal we must advance in a horizontal side scroll environment where there will be enemies disguised as junk food that we must avoid at all costs and also, we have to consume healthy foods, which are in the same scenario in order to maintain the glucose level in a good state ... and yes, this is the argument of one of the worst games ever made. As a fact, this video game was commissioned to be developed by a pharmaceutical company called Novo Nordisk, in an attempt to position itself in the video game industry at a time when it was at its peak.**

**Its graphic aspect, although it is not the best of the SNES is undoubtedly the best section of the game and that's saying a lot for such a mediocre game in all aspects, since at the level of scenario is not so bad and although the sprites of the characters, especially that of our protagonist enjoys a fairly large size, at the level of character design is the most simple and boring that can be. Some of the enemy designs are funny but in general terms it's really a lousy game. Musically it is trash, a soundtrack so poorly composed that it is better to play it with the sound off, because not only the music is lousy and repetitive and often does not fit very well with the situation or scenario in which we find ourselves, but also the sound effects are annoying, very noisy and in some cases the sound effects are so high-pitched that come to stun a little.**

**At the gameplay level it is simple and mediocre on both sides, a game whose main gameplay mechanic is that our character can jump to dodge enemies, we can not even attack them, we can simply dodge them by jumping. It is understood that it is an educational game and whose main purpose is to raise awareness of such a delicate issue as diabetes, but the way they made this game is worthy of study so that something like this is not repeated again. In a certain part of the story we control a boat whose purpose is the same as the game mode when we are walking the city, only in the sea and the gameplay in this mode (in the overwater mode) is much worse, so there was really no need to add a boat driving mode in a game that, already in its "platforming" mode was pretty bad in itself. It also has a kind of mini-game where we will be asked certain questions regarding diseases, which for a platform game, although it is quite bad, cuts the pace of the action. Captain Novolin is one of the worst games in the extensive SNES catalog, a game you could play just to have the anecdote of having played one of the worst games ever and be able to talk freely about how lousy it is.**

**En todos estos años que llevo haciendo reviews de videojuegos siempre he escrito sobre juegos muy buenos, buenos o regulares, pero hace poco cuando tuve una pequeña conversación con un compañero de Hive sobre los juegos antiguos y se me vino a la mente hablar sobre esos juegos que son tan malos que en lugar de dejarlos en el olvido hay que hablar de ellos para que, nunca sean olvidados y que quede como registro como no se deben hacer ciertas cosas y porque también es divertido hablar mal sobre esa clase de juegos. Muchos de estos juegos pésimos estan enfocados a un ámbito educativo, siendo el juego del cual les hablaré uno juego enfocado en el diabetes, un juego de plataformas que, llamarlo mediocre es quedarse cortos, ya que es un juego bastante pésimo pero del cual, vale la pena hablar.**

**Centrado en Captain Novolin, protagonista de este juego y el superhéroe por excelente de este universo de enfermedades enfocadas en la diabetes, controlamos a este personaje el cual como es de esperar tiene diabetes, siendo este su “superpoder”?... Captain Novolin tiene como misión salvar al alcalde de su ciudad el cual ha sido secuestrado por un Alien que tiene por nombre Blubberman y para lograr nuestro saludable objetivo debemos avanzar en un entorno de scroll lateral horizontal donde habrán enemigos disfrazados de comida chatarra que debemos evitar a toda costa y además, tenemos que consumir alimentos sanos, los cuales se encuentran en el mismo escenario para poder así mantener el nivel de glucosa en un buen estado… y si, este es el argumento de uno de los peores juegos que se ha hecho. Como dato este videojuego fue mandado a ser desarrollado por una empresa farmacéutica que tiene por nombre Novo Nordisk, en un intento de posicionarse dentro de la industria de los videojuegos en una época donde estaba en su máxima potencia.**

**Su aspecto gráfico, si bien no es el mejor de la SNES es sin duda el mejor apartado del juego y ya eso es mucho decir de un juego tan mediocre en todos los aspectos, ya que a nivel de escenario no está tan mal y aunque los sprites de los personajes, especialmente el de nuestro protagonista goza de un tamaño bastante grande, a nivel de diseño de personajes es lo más simple y aburrido que puede haber. Alguno que otro diseño de enemigos está chistoso pero realmente en términos generales es un juego pésimo. Musicalmente es una basura, una banda sonora tan mal compuesta que vale mejor la pena jugarlo con el sonido apagado, ya que no solo la música es pésima y repetitiva y que muchas veces no encaja muy bien con la situación o escenario en el que nos encontremos, sino que también los efectos de sonidos son molestos, muy ruidosos y en algunos casos los efectos de sonido son tan agudos que llegan a aturdir un poco.**

**A nivel jugable es simple y mediocre por ambas partes, un juego cuya mayor mecánica jugable es que nuestro personaje puede saltar para esquivar a los enemigos, ni siquiera podremos atacarlos, simplemente podemos esquivarlos mediante saltos. Se entiende que sea un juego educativo y cuyo mayor propósito sea la concientización de un tema tan delicado como lo es la diabetes, pero la forma en como hicieron este videojuego es dignos de estudios para que no se vuelva a repetir algo así. En cierta parte de la historia controlamos una lancha cuya finalidad es igual al modo de juego cuando nos encontramos caminando la ciudad, solo que en el mar y la jugabilidad en este modo (en el modo sobre el agua) es mucho peor, por lo que realmente no había ninguna necesidad de añadir un modo de conducción de lanchas en un juego que, ya en su modo de “plataformeo” era bastante malo de por sí.  También cuenta con una especie de mini-juego donde se nos harán ciertas preguntas referentes a las enfermedades, lo cual para un juego de plataformas, aunque sea bastante malo, corta el ritmo de la acción. Captain Novolin es uno de los peores juegos que hay en el extenso catálogo de la SNES, un juego se podría jugar solo para tener la anécdota de haber jugado a uno de los peores juegos de la historia y poder hablar libremente sobre lo pésimo que es.**
