Jesus told his disciples that it was enough for a disciple to be like his master nothing more, nothing less. If he was evil spoken of, should we expect less? image source It appears that the context in which Jesus called His disciples to work is a difficult one, a rather hostile one. The world is shamed by the way a true disciple of Jesus lives and would do everything to put him down. Yet this is where we are called to live and work. What do we do, cringe in fear? Jesus says no! We are not to live in fear but in full confidence in our God and father, who has the ultimate power over life and death. He is the one we should fear. Sometimes, this conflict carries over into homes. Nonetheless, we are to stay true to our Lord and master; we are not to be ashamed to identify with him and his cause in this world. Is someone reading this today being misunderstood, evil spoken of, and persecuted because of his or her faith in Jesus? Are you on the verge of quitting and thinking that this race is not worth the troubles? Hang in there, our master will not abandon you without help and without reward. If they have called the Master of the house Beelzebub [[i]master of the dwelling], how much more will they speak evil of those of His household. [II Kings 1:2.] 26So have no fear of them; for nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, or kept secret that will not become known. 27What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered in the ear, proclaim upon the housetops. 28And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be afraid of Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell (Gehenna). 29Are not two [j]little sparrows sold for a penny? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father's leave (consent) and notice. 30But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
__Prayer__ Lord, it is enough for me to be like you in this world.
