Tokens, tokens, Tokens! They are all over the steem blockchain! But which ones are useful to me?
Mhh, lots of things have changed in the steem blockchain during my holiday!
When I did open steem-engine I was blown away by all the different tokens. I even have to use the scrollbar to see them all. So some decision had to be made, which are useful for me and which aren’t.

The question is if this is a good thing or not. To be honest it feels a little bit like the old far west. I will be hard to investigate them all and see which are useful for me and which aren’t.

The easy ones are the gambling dapp related tokens. These are pretty well understandable for me.

Let’s discover what the others are.

# INVITE
Well this is also an easy one. I did delegate to steem-ninja. So each 2 weeks I will get a share of the 300 INVITE tokens which are minable. The amount depends on the stake I have in the delegation.
Each INVITE token can be used to create a free steem account. I haven’t used them for the moment. But I can create 5 accounts for free because I do have 5.407 INVITE with a total value of $3.41.

# SPORTS
Another easy one. The sports tribe did just start before my holiday and I was lucky enough to get a fair deal from the airdrop. At the moment I have staked 23517.768 Sports.
I haven’t seen so many sports post in my feed since I did arrive on steem. So, yes it has a good purpose. The question is how it can retain it’s value. It looks like the payout of some posts are way to high. But if you got on these posts early with voting, it can be rewarding due to the 50/50 split between authors and curators.
Tokens can be earned when writing the post via their steem condenser or by using the sportstalk tag.
For me personally this is a great addition to the steem blockchain.
I also did delegate 2K sports to the @sbcbot account, to support them to grow on the https://www.sportstalksocial.com/ tribe.

# PAL
The pioneer of the tribes. It was the first and paved the road for the other tokens. Just like SPORTS the tokens can be earned by writing posts via their condenser of by using the PALNET tag.
Also here the split between authors and curators is 50/50. I also got some PALs from the airdrop and have staked them all. At the moment of writing this post I do have 701.242 PAL staked.
But the PAL could also be used to buy upvotes. I haven’t tried this yet! But I will try it this week!

# DEC
The Dark Energy Crystals, which can be earned by delegating to steemmonsters and by playing steemmonsters. These can be used in the splinterlands shop to buy potions or packs.
But just like PAL it can also be used to buy some upvotes. This is done by sending DEC tokens to the splinterlands account and adding the url of the post in the memo field.
At the moment I am saving my DECs, I do want to try out all the potions combined, but that will take some time. Even if I do only buy the 50% legendary and alchemy I do need shitload of those!

# SPT
The token belonging to splintertalks.io. The token can be earned by writing steemmonsters related posts and by using the spt tag of by writing the post via the splintertalks.io condenser.
I don’t have many of those at all. But if I do write a post I will include the SPT tag for sure.

# Good gaming token
Also a new one from me. And also got a small share via the airdrop. The token can be earned by writing post about games! You figure 😊. The steemace tag has to be added to the post to be eligible to get gaming token upvotes.
I will not use this one a lot, but I will add the steemace tag when writing posts about games! Not that I do this too much. Most of my splinterland posts did stop when they did stop with the upvotes.

# LEO
Last but not least. The steemleo tribe does focus on investment posts (like this one?). To earn these tokens the steemleo tag has to be used. The condenser for this tribe is: https://www.steemleo.com/

# Overall
There are of course many other tokens and also miners for some of the tribes above! But I will focus on the ones described in this post!
Of course that brings another dilemma. Only 5 tags can be used within a post, so choices have to made.
I am trying to make a list which tags to use for which kind of post!
But the good thing is that it will make people write about other passions they have. A sports post for instance wasn’t too popular on the steem blockchain until the SPORTS token arrived.
So, yes there are good things about it! The question is how the tokens will remain their value.

I have decided not to set targets for this token, just like I will avoid creating new targets once I do reach dolphinhood on Steem. Only 220 SP to go!

Here is the complete overview of staked tokens:

Peter
