I had never expected myself to get quarantine due to close contact with a pupil with confirmed Covid-19.

As teachers, we are responsible for every student’s well-being by ensuring all safe management measures like washing of hands and wiping their tables before using them to prevent them from getting the virus.

Our students can still be vulnerable especially those who need to take public transport to school. We can educate them as much as we like to but it is not easy to cultivate it as a habit in them like keeping a safe distance of 1 metre away from others.

As a safety measure, many students and teachers who may had contact with the confirmed Covid-19 case were placed on quarantine by the government for 14 days.

I am actually fully vaccinated against Covid-19 but I am still placed at the quarantine facility away from my family.

The good thing is there is a wonderful window view at the quarantine facility. This is probably a thoughtful way to help those in quarantine to feel that it is like a staycation rather than a quarantine.

This is my second day into quarantine and it is not a wonderful feeling losing the freedom of moving around.

Nevertheless, it is a good break from our routine busy lifestyle and taking things at a slower pace.

Before I went to the quarantine facility, I did a PCR swap test and the result is negative so it is good.

Before the end of my quarantine, I would need to complete another PCR to confirm that I have not been affected by the virus.

I may be in isolation from the world in a quarantine facility but it may just be a good time to reflect on my life.
