Rudex works just like openledger. 
You deposit your token, in this case steem, and then you get their version of it. 

So instead of open.steem you get rudex.steem. It's fully tradeable just like any asset on bitshares. 

The big difference though is that the rudex.steem market is much smaller than the open.steem market. 
I checked right now and the 24hour volume against bitUSD is 109rudex.steem vs 1163open.steem. So it's much easier to sell and buy open.steem which is a bit funny because you can't deposit and withdraw it.

But as we talked about before, I normally use blocktrades because then you're sure to make an actual trade. 

I haven't used rudex's own platform for login, but I'm sure it works just like cryptobridge or openledger.
