### Hi Steemit friends! **What do you do to pass time?** Earlier today, I remember something that I did when I was on a vacation in the Philippines. ***Wandering at my father's farm, I searched for an ordinary object and challenge myself to create an art out of it.*** While I was walking along the pathways around the farm, I found myself looking curious on the fence. At that point, I figured that this mundane piece of barb could be the perfect subject for the challenge that I set for myself. Curious of what to expect, I took few shots of this "rusty" iron barbed and tried to make it artistic as possible. I was lucky enough to find an interesting angle for this subject while considering the harsh sunlight being cast on it. Although it was just 10 in the morning, I felt that the sun light is already too glaring. The spider web also added to the story of this image which is a worn out object with life that existed around it. *** ### I chose to shoot in macro to show the fine details on the surface of the iron barbed. Here is the a photo of the barbed that was directly lit by the sunlight, I guess too much direct light made the image loose the decent contrast. Personally, the only interesting part on this image is the bent part of the barb where the shadow was cast. On the other hand, I also feel that this small portion of the image made a big twist to its story. *** On this next image, I realized that too much light would cause the the image to lack contrast. To lessen this effect, I look for an angle that will put my subject on a dark background. I used the grass with it deep green color that will serve as a contrasting back drop for the iron barb. In this way, the subject became imposing and it also create an interesting contrast which is easier to look at. *** ### What do you think on these images? Hopefully, I was able to elevate this ordinary looking iron barb and turn it into a decent looking art. Do share your thoughts on the comment section below and I will be ready to get whipped by an iron barb. lol Just kidding :D Let's be kind to one another my Steemit friends! *** ***
All original photos by author (@funtraveller) using Sony RX1R with 35mm lens
