It took me a while before I grasp the basic understanding of the word decentralization. It's simply the transfer of authority from a single entity to the people of this entirety.

Before Steemit, the social media space is dominated by giants like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, &amp; Youtube which are all centralized. I never thought of any good alternative until I learned about the decentralize nature of Steemit.

When I first joined the steem blockchain, the first web application Steemit was thought as the better version of Facebook. Since at that time, one of the big issues of Facebook is the user's privacy. Unlike Facebook, the users of Steemit enjoy the benefit of anonymity, data ownership and monetization of it. It's a revolutionary concept that everyone should take part of in contributing their valuable knowledge in their field of expertise and possibly rewarded for it.

In Steem blockchain, the distribution of rewards has so many facets. Some curation activities are based on an objective guidelines that favor good quality contents. While some curation activities are obviously subjective which direct rewards to the users that are within the network of the curator; network of friends.

I have nothing against on the kind of approach that a high-stake user do his curation. Regardless whether the curator is subjective or objective in what he does, whether he's aiming for the short term or long term success of the steem blockchain. I can't imagine a world that has a singular mindset however, for as long as we have the same end goal - steem's success.
