A small town in U.P, India is teaching the world how hunger can be beaten with one small step. Roti Bank in Mahoba is world's first roti bank (food bank).

It collects food from over 500 households and feeds more than 1000 people every day. An extra portion of simple roti and sabzi is made in the kitchens of households, collected by volunteers, and distributed by shops in the town. 

Yusuf Mukati wanted to help the poor in his neighborhood, so he started Roti Bank, where people deposit food and the needy can withdraw meals.

Within a year and a half, over 100 Roti Banks have mushroomed all over Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. 

It’s a great humanitarian act.

Great, commendable works however empowering them to be self sufficient is more wiser and high yielding if ever there is that possibility.

It's a good step to combat hungry for the people who do not get even a one time meals a day

What happens the day the alms stops? 

Instead those who are able bodies should probably be helped and encouraged to work for themselves or involved in income generating projects in order to gain self worthy and be able to assist others in turn.

 Dependency syndrome tends to creep in people if they are not so much also churned in the right direction. 

We need to treat the root cause to reduce poverty also which leaving a legacy.
