If you read some of my posts, either older or newer, you know I'm not against using AI and I do it myself for various tasks. Even on Hive, some things can be greatly improved by the use of AI, but others maybe should be avoided: * Hive devs can use AI as tools to improve their productivity * Hive front ends can potentially use AI to improve their SEO or optimize their websites * Searching, categorizing posts and authors, finding related ones, all seem tasks that improve the UX and are better suited for AI nowadays * Suggestions to new users based on their behavior on-chain is another thing AI may be well-suited for * an AI chatbot with Hive training on top of a general one (Inleo has been working on various stages of this for a very long time) * Research can be done using AI * Generating cover or other illustrative images for posts seem a generally acceptable practice (PeakD has a feature to generate AI images), as long as the post isn't a photography post, where what is supposed to be showcased is the skill of the photographer and their tools * Video-generated content by AI seems fine; it's too "expensive" for now anyway to be abused * Grammar-checking your post is fine, even if I don't use it for that (sorry if I twist the English grammar sometimes ๐) * If you plan to write a long, complex post, getting inspiration for a section structure from the AI seems ok * Re-writing your post to look better is not ok in my opinion, as the post loses your personal touch (unless the account is not a personal one, it is for a business, and you want to assume an AI-looking style for your posts) * Writing your post fully with AI and then changing it to your own style is only ok if you let people know that's what you do (and I know at least one person who says he does that); you have to assume rewards may reflect that. https://img.leopedia.io/DQmfTYh21FngUUXFWPmxpx4zwGU4bgQtWZLPGMbqrdZjBHp/image.png *Haha, Ideogram is "responsible" for the choice of words on the screen, as for everything else in the image.* And now for AI comments on posts... I don't like them! The most obvious ones are the ones summarizing your post. If you don't pay attention, you might think "How nice! This person really **read** my post!" What gives it away (besides the writing style of the AI), is the fact that they summarize it too well.๐ Real people usually pick up one or at most a few points from your post and comment on them. They don't rehash what you just said in a few sentences. I find it deceitful to write such a comment as if you read the post, and read it well. And usually they come on authors who tend to upvote their commenters, obviously. Otherwise, what's the point, right? Personally, when I pick up such comments I prefer not to respond (and obviously not to upvote them). I know others feel the same way. I also know this is just the beginning and the most obvious types of AI comments. We will likely see more of them. Maybe if the comment would bring something useful to the conversation I wouldn't mind if it was AI generated. But summaries you can see from front ends already, for those who don't want to read the entire post. So, there is no benefit there. It's just spam on the chain.
