https://i.imgur.com/L4BdKma.jpg
I wore my Go Pro for the first time today. I explain why and how it came about in a post I wrote this morning. ***See that post here*** I shot a little club match at one of my gun clubs today, an IPSC match which is also explained in the post above. I did ok. I didn't get DQ'd (disqualified) which is relatively easy to do...So many rules...And my times were reasonable. What I was very proud of was my accuracy. Over all the rounds fired I scored Alpha's and Charlie's only (no delta's) which means I maximised my score and only missed once. A Mike (miss) comes with a 5 point deduction plus you don't actually score points for the hit so it's reasonably costly. It was my fault though. It happens. I got one on and missed the second. The score sheet and standings will get emailed to me in a couple of days and I'm interested to see where I place. I am generally placing 3rd in my division and around the middle of the pack so I'll be happy with something like that. To be honest I think I'll go ok due to my accuracy today. Anyway, below is a little run down on the stages and, of course, some video. https://youtu.be/4j7B9BAsooI **Stage one:** This stage was very short one consisting of only 4 targets and 1 steel popper. Each target has to be hit twice and the steel popper falls when hit, so only once. It started with the handgun loaded and holstered. On the beep the shooter draws and fires in any order they decide. In the video you can see the white steel popper down range. The actual target popper is behind that with only a little part of it showing. Hitting the white popper in front meant losing 25 points for the stage. Fortunately i didn't hit it. My time was 5.69 seconds for this stage. **Stage two:** A more complex stage with 11 targets and 4 steel poppers at the end. As you can see there's a course to navigate however once at the target array one can engage in any order. You can see I change the magazine a couple of times here which is generally done in between shooting positions to save time. This was a fun stage although in hindsight I think I could have done it a little quicker by maybe 4-5 seconds. My time was about 30 seconds You'll see on the second target array I take a last shot to back up what would have been a Delta. I backed up and hit an Alpha. On the third target array I also recheck my magazine real quick as I thought I hadn't inserted it all the way. All these things cost time, plus at 48 years old I don't run as fast as I used to. **Stage three** This stage was a bit of fun but it's a bit difficult to see all of it on the video as buildings are involved. I had the GoPro on my head so it gets a little blocked at times. It was quite simple really, 10 targets all requiring a double tap. The start position was gun loaded, but not racked (i.e. no round in the chamber) resting on the bench. The shooter starts sitting on a chair a little distance away. On the beep you'll see me get up, collect the pistol and rack it then shoot through the slit at a fairly long target. I take three shots as I was not confident the first shot actually hit. It's called backing up. Unfortunately I was an idiot and after the shots through the second window threw in a magazine change I didn't need. Stupid! It cost me time. I magazine change again on the way to the next window and then have to magazine change again. It was a fun stage. I'm not sure what my time was but it was competitive. Not with the top guys, but in my division. You may note that some of the targets are partially covered so there's not a full target picture to shoot at. More challenge. **Stage four** I enjoyed this stage also. You'll note the steel bridge we had to climb and shoot from. There were 10 targets in all and as usual they were all double tapped. Changing mags was done on the run of course and the element of navigating the obstacle (bridge) made for a little more excitement, and risk. I made it cleanly fortunately. (One guy fell over). On this stage I think I could have done it about 4 seconds quicker but I tend to err on the safe side these days. I'm not sure what my time was but again, it was slower than the top guys and faster than many in my division. So, here you have it, my first effort of wearing my GoPro ever! I have the GoPro to attach to my four-wheeler when I'm off-roading generally but figured I may as well use it as a training aid for my IPSC shooting. Now, before you all go off at me for what I did wrong, or how you did it in Afghanistan when you were a Navy SEAL or Army Ranger just count to ten. I've been shooting for a long time but mainly long range rifles at which I'm very good. I shoot practical rifle competitions around Australia and that's been my focus. Whilst I bought the pistol you see in the videos a couple of years ago (for the zombie apocalypse) I only started shooting IPSC with it in September. I shot the State Titles in January 2018 and got Top Rookie so I'm progressing. Anyway, like with anything on social media there's armchair warriors all over the place so have at it.
