I wake up most mornings

I wake up most mornings and wonder what the day may bring and how I can position myself better to make it happen. I’m not a morning person generally, I’m not super grumpy or anything, I just like to sleep and waking up gets in the way of that. Having said that I always wake up and fall out of bed thinking about attacking the day, wringing the most out of it and pursuing my goals, short, medium and long term. They are always on my mind and I actively chase them down.

I’m not infallible though and like most people my moments of brilliance are tempered with a little doubt, fear and uncertainty. It would be a lie for me to indicate otherwise. I suffer failure just like most of us and have learned more from those failures than from any success I’ve ever had.

I think what works heavily in my favour though is my mindset, self-honesty and ownership which I apply right across the board with anything I do. That and all the other attributes required in pursuit of my goals.

I ran into one of the guys at work yesterday who is struggling. He is lazy and egotistical, shows no initiative, hides behind *busy work* rather than engaging in *dollar-productive* activity, is a know-all, arrogant and selfish. He is also very resentful of other people’s success. In my opinion he needs to go however he’s not part of my team and so I keep my mouth shut. His success, or lack of it, mirrors his attitude and his actions mirror his success, or lack of it. It’s a cycle he needs to break; But won’t.

It makes me think of a phrase I read a while back, I can’t recall where. It goes like this...Accept what *is* rather than resenting what isn’t.

That doesn’t mean you need to accept your failures of course, your position in life, income, weight, relationship status etc. It means that accepting where you are in life, *acknowledging* and understanding it is key in understanding what you need to change to be able to move forward. It also means that resenting others for their success, which you may not have, is unproductive and motivation-destroying.

Rather than resenting the top operator find out what they did/do to achieve those results. Don’t hate the fit person because they are strong and healthy, work out what they do to attain/maintain that fitness. Don’t hate the couple who are in love and happy, be the person you need to be to put yourself into a position to attract that love for yourself. It’s a simple concept.

Humans tend to fear what we don’t understand and that fear can lead to resentment which ultimately leads to us not acting through fear of failure. That’s the wrong attitude. I say fail! In doing so it means you acted. Get knocked down. It means you stood up. Learn from each failure, gather knowledge, wisdom and understanding on the way and one day you’ll find success.

Fail often. Take massive action. Be responsible for you.

Today I’ll end with both of my preferred sign-offs...

[- Vincit qui se vincit -] - This is Latin for “He conquers who conquers himself” or something close to that.

[- Design and create your ideal life, don’t live it by default -] -
