I wrote about taking my Lego Technic models apart and rebuilding them into other things a little while ago. I'd thought long and hard about it and was comfortable with the decision; I'm running out of room to store them and also figured rebuilding them into other things would give me additional value from the, not insignificant, cost of these Lego sets. I took the first one to my Lego work bench, more commonly known as the *dining room table* and proceeded to...*procrastinate.* Needless to say, no dismantling was done.

That was weeks ago and since then...I'm sad to say all of my Lego Technic sets have been dismantled...*and if you believe that you're a nutbag!*

*One has been deconstructed* and, painful as it was, the several thousand pieces been sorted into the individual colours and bagged up in clear zip-lock bags ready for reconstruction at some later date. It wasn't easy to do; *deconstructing it was*, but actually starting the process was difficult. It happened though, and I'll get onto the next one shortly.

I've been reviewing the options as far as what I'll build the set into but nothing has captured my interest yet so the search continues and all will be revealed in due course.

I also did a stocktake on what unbuilt Lego Technic I had laying around the place and found a couple of small sets, similar to the drag car pictured above. This is one of them below, a pull-back model meaning it has a little motor that drives it when wound up (by pulling it backwards). It's not a large set like the one I've just taken apart, (some 4,000 pieces), but will be fun to build and, because it's a 2-in-1 set, I'll be able to pull it apart and rebuild it for double the fun. The good thing is that it's a fairly small set so won't take up much room. I'm just trying to make myself feel better here, because taking my Lego Technic apart has been a drag!

The whole idea behind taking some of my build Technic sets apart was to get better value from them, double value, by building them into other things. It's a legit plan and with space constraints makes a lot of sense over buying new ones. Some of the models are up to metre long so it makes it difficult to find places to put them. Honestly, I'm not too upset about taking them apart, it's just been a bit sad considering how much time and effort goes into putting them together. I'll cope though...maybe I'll have some counselling...or some snacks, *that's sure to perk me up.* Or...maybe I'll just buy more.
